Take a Moment from Anger to Remember Laughter

I certainly was never Gene Wilder's biggest fan. His particular kind of absurd and silly humor usually did not strike a chord in me.
But he spent his entire life making people laugh and doing everything he could to bring a little more joy into an increasingly unhappy world.
We should all be so lucky to have not only his gift, but his unrelenting commitment to sharing it with the world.
You will be sorely missed Mr. Wilder, and I for one am thankful for what you did with your life.

Count me as one who enjoyed Mr. Wilder's on-screen performances and antics.

I did not like Willie Wonka but from the Silver Streak, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and other movies I came to really liked his work.

I liked his brand of humor. The more Wilder the better. He was married to Rossana Rossana Danna at one time.

I did like Wilder's comedy which was really comedic acting. His work with Mel Brooks was excellent. Young Frankenstein, for my money, was light years better than Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot, regarded by many as the greatest screen comedy ever.

Yes, we should all be glad for what he did with his life and that is a very interesting way of putting it. We should all do the right things with our life, the things we were created to do. The problem is figuring it out.

PaulPisces, this is a very nice posting and we disagree a lot, in fact more than we agree, but you at least exhibit respect for other opinions. That is in marked difference from some of the other liberals in this venue.

Take care.

They were only married for about five years (1982-1987, I think) before she died of cancer.

I've only recently begun differentiating the varous liberals in this venue but it seems to me that PaulPisces deserves this kind of opprobrium. Others certainly do but PaulPisces seems to have respect for other viewpoints and even solicits disagreeement.

Many thanks. Though I do manage to poke fun sometimes, I have no interest in demonizing others. What the hell would that do to solve a disagreement?
God knows I've had enough therapy to know that it's better to attack the problem rather than the person.

I meant that PauPisces does NOT deserve this kind of opprobrium & that was not a Freudian slip. I was in the middle of my office hours and patients and didn't edit properly.

My apologies to PaulPisces.

Was not a Wilder fan, but must say the movies discussed here were enjoyed..

He did have an unusual array that's for sure.

He did make many happy...A wonderful tribute itself...
