the big problem here is that most people that complain about extreme ideas they mean the T.E.A. party and all they want is to follow the constitution and that is only extreme to the RINOS and liberals

I don't have a problem with the TP's ideas. But, I do think that they had a golden opportunity and they blew it. They came on too strong. They went to the House with this "our way or no way" mentality, and that doesn't work there. All it does is cause resentment and backlash. Getting ideas across to others requires patience, diplomacy, and the willingness to listen to the views of others. It's a give and take process. I'm afraid that the TP has irrevocably damaged itself because they did not know what to do with their new found power.

I'm not sure that we all have to necessarily become independents. I think we could go a long way by trying to curb the most extreme elements within BOTH major parties. To my mind, they are the one's obstructing progress for the greatest number of people who are in the middle. I think both parties have some good ideas. I don't want to get issue oriented here because THAT'S what brings out the emotions of a lot of posters on these types of boards, and then they try to make those issues the focus of the discussion.

I acknowledge and respect the passion of these folks, but what I have issues with sometimes is the WAY in which they try to advance their causes. In a large diverse society such as ours is, "muscle" never works! One side will never be able to ram their views down the throats of the rest of us! And, when one side tries it, it sometimes results in a backlash which ends up HURTING their cause!

So, when these very passionate and issue oriented people try to force their respective parties to do their bidding, or they will not cooperate in getting OTHER things done...I think they need to be told to take a hike! How do we do that??? We elect more moderates who can then, in turn...marginalize the extremists. If they want to have a place at the table, fine. But, they need to lower their voices, and respect other views, and their views will be respected as well. How am I doing so far???

Your comments???

If you think of this as a ball game, you will see similarities, We are the fans of the teams that are in the game. We have no control over the action, but we can cheer them on or boo them out. We are not involved in the writing of the plays, but we are deep into the suffering of the penalties. What we don't like is the impression that the game is fixed.

If we sponsor or back a team, we want them to win because we think they have the right team and the right strategy to win the game. However if we stay home and don't cheer them on, they become dispirited and usually lose.

That is what is happening with the conservative team, they are playing in a fixed game, and are losing. We need to cheer them on and get them to devise a better strategy. If we enforce their spirit with both praise and money, they can turn this thing around. We need to look at the stars, and get them to lead the game.

No it is not, but at this time, the game is fixed. The referees, are bought and paid for.

I don't think they came on strong enough. They let the bought media lie and distort everything they were trying to do. This was a mass outrage, and a strategy should have been waiting in the background because they knew this would happen. It was a snow ball fight, and they didn't have enough snow balls.
