To those who know Christ, there is no such thing as chance.

I have been Christian since childhood but didn't come to my personal relationship until age 22. I have long been of the opinion that God certainly can control all, but the proper question is Does He?

I think no.

He gave us free will. What would the purpose be if He controlled everything?

It is in our choices that we come to Christ. Do I believe God intercedes? Yes, at His discretion, not ours. The Bible says "when two or more are gathered", meaning He listens and acts, but does God exercise constant control? No. As far as random events: i believe how we react to them is important to Him and again, He intercedes at His discretion. He set things in motion, and observes.

I don't believe the article was implying that God micromanages everything. It's simply saying that God is in control of what really matters. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Ecclesiastes 9: 11

I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.
