The Pattern of sin

In the third chapter of Genesis we see the pattern of sin. It starts with a desire to do evil. Before any action is committed we justify it in our minds. If satan has convinced you that God is not real and the word of God is a lie you will be a pain in the neck to anyone who is unlucky enough to be in the same room with you. But if the word of God is hid, it is hid to those that are lost. They don’t believe in God because they don’t see proof. The fact that there is logic and order to this creation which has been going on for millions of years tells them nothing. They believe in things they cannot see or prove. It takes more faith to believe in evolution when there is no proof that a squirrel can become a bird than to believe this intelligent design has a more intelligent designer. Let’s get back to sin. You justify the commission of the act in your mind. You convince yourself sin will produce a pleasant outcome. After you commit the act it is not enough, you have to get someone else involved. If caught you blame someone else for the choices you made.

God knows all of our thoughts and it is a sin to even think about committing one. Coveting is wrong because it is the evil imagination of the heart and it leads to sin. In the novel 1984, there was an organization called "The Thought Police". 1984 was the "acceptable year of the Lord" Isaiah 61:2. You cannot be holy when you have impure thoughts.

Ephesians 4:26 If you think about it and don't do it, you didn't do it.
