May beer have helped lead to the rise of civilization? It's a possibility, some archaeologists say.

Interesting and plausible concept..Preparing lavish feasts would involve experimenting with the things they had available and enhancing them...

As the article points out until that cup or urn is found with trace elements confirming it, it's plausible.. Not something to readily dismiss...

Interesting read, little..Sure makes you think more about it..such as what was the drink of the time..I always assumed it was wine?? Now I need to read up on it...

Here's a little something that also addresses your post..

common in many cultures and often reflects their cultural and religious peculiarities as much as their geographical and sociological conditions.

Discovery of late Stone Age jugs suggest that intentionally fermented beverages existed at least as early as the Neolithic period (cir. 10,000 BC

Check out the links within..Wine and beer...

Most beer is flavoured with hops, which add bitterness and act as a natural preservative, though other flavourings such as herbs or fruit may occasionally be included. The fermentation process causes a natural carbonation effect, although this is often removed during processing, and replaced with forced carbonation.[7] Some of humanity's earliest known writings refer to the production and distribution of beer: the Code of Hammurabi included laws regulating beer and beer parlours,[8] and "The Hymn to Ninkasi", a prayer to the Mesopotamian goddess of beer, served as both a prayer and as a method of remembering the recipe for beer in a culture with few literate people.[9][10]

So, not only agricultural, but laws governing drinking and personal responsibility as well as prayer..

All encompassing in development, little..

Well, they'd have the same problem they had with cereal grains, Grapes have to be cultivated. They also need the proper climate. You can see the problems. Speaking of cereal, the coolest forum name I've seen is Cereal K**ler. Someone has a warped sense of humor.

No more casino's! You've taken enough of my money. I found a state with no casino's, and I'm happy. I'd rather be a drunk than a gambler. Most drunks I know have money.
