Enjoy, I'm only sending this to people who are old enough to know who she is.

Julie Andrews Turning 79 - this is hysterical!

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:

(Sing It!) - If you sing it, it's especially hysterical!!!

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

>>>>> > >>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>
(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humor with others who would appreciate it.)

Age hasn't taken her beauty. She still has her lovely smile and the shine of love in her eyes.

What an incredible woman.
Performers of her caliber are non-existent these days.

That's not true! Why do old farts think that the past was better than today. We had the same problems (without internet and newer electronics) but great things are happening each day. You were just too young and naïve to realize that fact and not prepared to take on adult responsibilities. Things back then were not better - just different. Many of today's performers are just as good, if not better, than the old ones. T***h is, we've gotten away from all that romanticism and today are more realistic. And note that the media is a lot faster with the news and today we are able to see events "live" rather than only stories that were composed to make them seem more interesting (or horrid, or grievous).

My guess is that you are not even fifty years old. So how would you know about that past. What does the media have to do with someone's vocal abilities? Years ago there were just as many bad singers as good singers. Now a lot of the lyrics are drowned out by the bands which helps the mediocre vocalist to attain some stature.

Thank you for the compliment regarding m psychological age. You just proved my point that I appreciate our youth and progress whereas you are stuck pining for a past that, thank goodness, will never return. So you romanticize it. I, on the other hand, live in the present. I can agree with you that today's music is too loud. I do recall going into a club and immediately turning around and leaving. My reason was that I enjoyed listening to music and not having it beat on my body. But that was the mode then. We do have good music written and performed today and one needn't listen to it at top volume. It is proven that the top volume has destroyed many people's hearing. I can enjoy it at a lower decibel level and appreciate it. Yes, I do recall musicians standing next to gigantic amplifiers and going deaf.

I grew up in an age of the Four Seasons,, the Limelighters, Progressive Jazz like the Modern Jazz Quartet. I did not appreciate the era in which kids practiced in their garages and worked with only three chords and a microphone almost down the throat of the vocalist singing only lyrics like "yeah, yeah." I did resent good musicians losing work to kids who screamed. But since then, some fine music has been written. I believe it was in the 70s where Moody Blues took the lead in truly musical writing and presenting. It is not the musician's fault that a large number of our population feels the need for loudness. It has become habit.

I still prefer classical (old to you) music and, although I can enjoy most of it (favorites are Shostakovich and Stravinsky) I still play the 1812 Overture at top volume and conduct it. In a preface of a book I once read that "the younger generation do not listen to the elders' words of wisdom and will bring destruction to this world." This, from a philosopher from 2000CBC. You see, there were complaints even back then. I feel I should give you a bit of my experiences so that you can see that older people need not be stuck in the past but can appreciate what is occurring in our world today.

Thanks again for the compliment and, if you will take the advice of an 82-year-young person - STOP B***HING and live in the NOW! There are a lot of wonderful things happening at the present time for one who is not afraid of change.

I live in the present but detest the way our country is being ruined. The wonderful things I se happening now are the great accomplishments this country is making in the medical field and the technical field. We need to make changes in the way we look at one another. Treat people for who they are and not for what color or what religion they believe. That is my philosophy for this time we live in.
Also I am but a scant 2 years your junior. We must live our lives to the fullest. Have a great day!

1981 SOB movie where hollywood makes the purist actress show tits to make it a hit movie is where it all starts going down hill. Julies career of a good girl hast to be tarnished like all others just to make a hit movie. hollywood has always been the home of the perverts, fruit, and nuts. Julie comes back in next movie playing a woman who dresses as a man just to make it big in music, and at the same time her manager is gay and says this is the way, jim garner falls for her/him and the plot thickens, when jims body guard alax karras comes out of the closet for the manager.
While the theme is more prevalent today it has always been the hallmark of hollywood to push this as a main stream even though homoism is .01% of the population

I believe you've got the film industry confused in your mind. Have you seen many European or other foreign films that were not designed to be pornographic? In most, the attitude toward boobs is that they exist and are not worthy of much attention unless the film is planned for viewing in the U.S. I doubt whether the kids in other countries try to get National Geographic purely to see African boobs. The problem is with the puritan influence prevalent here. Do you become excited when viewing a cow's boobs or those of any other animal with the exception of primates (because their habits are so close to human) Do you become embarrassed to see a gorilla nursing her young? Why is it a no-no for a woman to be seen nursing in the U.S.? Everyone "aw"s when seeing an animal nursing its young. Why should it be different for a human? What other creatures compare penises or boob size? It seems to be so important here because of the taboos. And why should there be taboos except for sick minds that look at human body parts as "dirty"?

I'm sure Julie doesn't have these hangups. I don't think she believes that showing a "tit" will harm her career. GROW UP!
