Why we revolted
When America was first discovered in 1607 it was a British colony. Later other European countries divided up the Western hemisphere. What we know as the United States was colonized by England, Spain, France, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Eventually the largest colonies belonged to England, Spain, and France. In 1607 the first colony in America was founded by England in Jamestown, Virginia. By 1776 all of the original settlers were dead. When England raised taxes to recoup losses from the French Indian war, Americans had already started looking at England as a liability. (This is not the first time Israel split from Judah because of taxes.) There was also the problem of the criminal cruelty of the state sponsored Catholic Church, with it’s wars, inquisitions, and book burnings. Within 100 years, those who came to America from Europe improved their lives and discovered Europe was unnecessary.

An interesting parallel between the U.S. and Israel. There are many comparisons between the U.S. in its early history and Israel in its early history. The comparisons are actually very uncanny.

About 40 times in the old testament prophets, God says all of the children of Jacob (not just Judah) shall return to the Middle East.
