Even the dimmest bulb might change their minds if their girlfriend was raped, or someone broke into their home and stole everything they own...after beating the crap out of them. The problem is that you can't allow the innocent to go unprotected just to give the ungrateful thugs what they deserve.

And besides that.. The police are better than the progressives. They shouldn't stoop to their level, even if the assholes deserve it.

The media needs to take a vacation too - if no one (police, media, anti-protesters) showed up to these protests and if no one "Liked" or commented on related posts on all forms of social media, this would die out quickly.
