Living 2 miles away from two lakes we definitely need one of these, I'm going for the red and white one myself.

I was thinking more on the lines of skiing/tubing and fishing but at $140,000.00 I may have to save a few more pennies.

When I worked for a sheet metal shop a couple generations ago the owner had a German military amphibious vehicle that was interesting in a way. Ugly as all hell, didn't handle worth a darn on the roads even with a top speed of 45 or so and in the water you could literally out swim the thing. Oh all that fun and I think it got around 6mpg. I have seen the Amphicar in Idaho as a neighbor had one for his lake, kinda cool but small and like you said really slow on the water. Had a COOT when a kid, fun then, kinda but a totally useless hunk of metal in reality.

The Coot is, at least I think they are still being made under the Coot2 designation, anyway they are/were either 4 wheel or 6 wheel all terrain vehicles that some models were kind of amphibious depending on the tires used. Here are a couple items to view on their behalf.

Coots are small water birds that are members of the Rallidae (rail) family. They constitute the genus Fulica, the name being the Latin for "coot".[1] Coots have predominantly black plumage, and—unlike many rails—they are usually easy to see, often swimming in open water. They are close relatives of the moorhen.

Description[edit]
Coots have prominent frontal shields or other decoration on the forehead, with red to dark red eyes and coloured bills. Many, but not all, have white on the under tail. The featherless shield gave rise to the expression "as bald as a coot," which the Oxford English Dictionary cites in use as early as 1430. Like other rails, they have long, lobed toes that are well adapted to soft, uneven surfaces. Coots have strong legs and can walk and run vigorously. They tend to have short, rounded wings and are weak fliers, though northern species nevertheless can cover long distances.

Interesting but I already knew that as I found Coot hunting wasteful because they taste terrible and the law dictates you must be able to differentiate from one species to another in bird hunting. Now open your mind and type COOT VEHICLE into your search engine to find there are more than just one type of COOT in the world. Hell there are even thousands of OLD COOTS running around the world don't cha know.
