It has become a habit of the left to target guns and the NRA after a shooting, but why is this case different?

Easy.

This is a typical weekend on the streets of Chicago, Obama’s hometown.

From ABC7:

“At least 18 people have been shot so far this weekend and six of those victims are dead.

“Two security guards were called to a large outdoor party at a housing complex in the 1300 block of West Hastings. Someone started shooting and a 24-year-old man was shot in the back and k**led. The two security guards were wounded.

“Officers received a call of shots fired in the 4800 block of West Monroe in Austin just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday and found a 23-year-old man lying face down, police said. He was shot several times and was dead at the scene.

“One man, 29, was shot in both thighs, his hand a forearm. The other man, 30, was shot in the hand. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital where their conditions stabilized, police said.

“The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not confirm the two most recent deaths Saturday morning.

“Two men, both 19, were in a vehicle in the first block of South Springfield in West Garfield Park about 1:30 a.m. when they were shot, police said.

“One man was shot in the abdomen and was dead at the scene, police said. The other was shot in right leg and listed in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

“Late Friday, a man was fatally shot in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

“The 22-year-old was shot in the neck about 10:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Kirkland, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”

You won’t hear any disparaging words about the NRA. Nobody will lament how easy it is to legally purchase a firearm. It won’t even get a passing glance from the media. The lives of those murdered will not be remembered in widely-broadcasted memorials. Perhaps even more d********g than that is the reason why: Progressives have done all they can to turn Chicago into a Democrat-controlled l*****t utopia, and it has failed.

Not even Black L***s M****r could be bothered to comment on the k*****gs, almost as if it doesn’t matter to them.

In a society where the easiest and most widely-accepted reaction to firearm-related deaths is to point to the nearest Republican and scream bloody murder, why is that not even being attempted here? Do the lives of these people not matter simply because they live in a real world example of gun control’s short-comings?

The struggle of those living in crime infested Chicago neighborhoods to make it through the day without becoming the target of some gang member with something to prove is being overlooked in favor of the opportunity to capitalize on fear and desire for safety, no matter its form. Because of the strict gun control laws, a single mother can be gunned down on the way to one of her three jobs because she has no way to defend herself, meanwhile criminal activity involving firearms flourishes because the bad guys have a whole town of disarmed citizens to victimize.

But again, you won’t hear about any of this from self-righteous anti-Second Amendment groups like Moms Demand or Everytown. It simply doesn’t it their agenda.

Instead, these people – ignoring the blatant failings illustrated by Chicago and Detroit – try to sell us gun control measures in the name of “safety” and “protecting the children.” They try to convince you that the same laws that are allowing the murder of women and children in a different city will work for you. They can’t allow you to see the brutal, bloody t***h behind the curtain.

The t***h is that nobody is raising a fuss over these shootings because they have no use for them. They can’t prop the dead up as victims of “gun culture” because the opposite is true; they’re victims of the very policies that were enacted for their “protection.”

That is the real crime.

It is all the N R A's fault that 18 were shot an 6 dead when you have the strict's gun law in the country! I guess the N R A sold them the guns in stead of black market or stolen some where an sold to them.

The guns that come into Chicago come in from outside the city. So if you want to stop that you have to ban semi-auto's nationally. That is fine with me and what I've been proposing. That may not ease the situation in Chicago but it will limit the number of bullets we fire at each other and make us become better shots if our intent is to k**l. Thanks for posting. The more interest we can get in banning semi-auto's nationally the better!

I'm sure you are well intentioned but you can do more damage to many with a pump action (not semiautomatic) shotgun loaded with double aught bucks. Imagine the effect of eight .330 caliber slugs sprayed from a single shot.
America is already awash in guns so we have to somehow work with responsible gun owners to set up a background check system to prevent crazy people and criminals from acquiring guns as much as possible. We will never be able to completely eliminate gun violence in America but it could be reduced dramatically. The pathway to that end is an end to the hostile reactive bickering and a serious adult dialogue about achievable solutions.

" Achievable Solutions" are the key factor to be considered in the "serious adult dialogue" that you speak of.

It would be a grand disaster to attempt to disarm Americas' gun owners.

It would prove to be a miserably "unachievable" solution.

And as I have stated many times.

If all guns and weapons of any kind were to suddenly disappear, we would then proceed to beat each other to death with our bare hands.

No it is all the Christians fault If they didn't h**e murderers and other criminals then the criminals would not have had to commit more crimes.

Sad but true. We need to understand however that many if most of the calls for gun bans are more aspirational to an end to the mass k*****gs than an end to gun ownership. Most of these folks are just confused and frightened. If they could be assured that there was a plan in place to vet crazy people before allowing gun ownership a lot of this opposition would go away. If gun owners formed a National Union that a declined applicant could appeal to in the event of a rejection that would go a long way to alleviate gun owners fears about confiscation. The NRA could play a role in this but not yet. First they need to free themselves of the taint of political partisanship. All the parts for a solution exist.
It just needs a visionary leader to assemble and make it work.
