Wages were 22 Cents/hour and $200-$400 annually, virtually 1/100th of the current wages today. That's inflation personified due to the Federal Reserve Bank's endless excess printing of our paper fiat. Now there's a morale destroyer.
We are owners of a lot of stuff today, gadgets and toys, but 40% do not own their own homes, and some 90% do not own a business. That has sucked the joy of creativity out of our hearts. Why was soap so expensive back then? It was plentiful. Soap factories were common. That might account for the life expectancy of age 47.
