Mongo, MissingLink...I am a proud Viet Nam Vet who remains disgusted with the way Trump denigrated all POWs with his past comments. Those comments, alone, made/make me question Trump's support for our Veterans. I know two POWs from different wars, and each damn well earned and deserve our respect.

I am closely following the story behind this thread. There is much yet to be revealed.

Maybe he was misinformed of the total. If it was Hillary, it wouldn't even be an issue as everyone knows she can't help herself lying to the citizens to rise above her opponents!
On another note, don't reply with a Marine Corps response if you haven't earned the title. It just doesn't cotton well with people that have earned and sacrificed for the honor!

I thought the only pow vet he spoke of was John McCain. Not all pow's. Look Slatten , you know that we Veterans , have been used for political ploy since the beginning of our nation. If not , I can sight line and verse to a point . I've spent some time at it .Reason , my time in and out-and back in-country 66-72. Late 72 . Anyway. He should not have said it , but he did not use the broad brush you speak of and blast all pow's. No excuse for what he did but what you claimed he said is not fact Amigo. He is my senior Senator as well. Respect him greatly but do not like his politics. I know how heart felt this situation is. I know Slatten.

I respect any Veteran's viewpoint, MissingLink, but I would have to also respectfully disagree. In my initial post, I mentioned nothing of what Trump said. The quote by The Donald to which I will refer is the one that included "...I like people who weren't captured, OK?" That seems pretty inclusive to me, with regard to POWs.

In McCain's case, his plane had been shot down, crashed and he was left crippled with injuries...hardly conducive to escaping the situation he had found himself in.

Trump's comment was that he did not respect McCain because he was caught! I gather "all POWs were caught. It stands to reason, by his words, that since all POWs were caught, he did not respect them. Think about it.
