It is difficult to misunderstand being tagged as incompetent because a reader is too hurried to process what is said.
I judge for myself when to apologize just as you do.
The difference is I consider the other person.

I'm such a nerd. I love to read math books. I might out this one on my list. I have done volunteer math tutoring, and I think personally that a lot of the new curriculum is quite good actually. I am a proponent of common core. Though it apparently has its problems, the basic premises are solid. I used a lot of Khan Academy materials to explain stuff to my students.
