Ahhhhh, and some minds are so closed, no light gets in, they wither and they die. I will say that those who are firm in their beliefs should have nothing to fear from those who would challenge them. They should be so comfortable in their skin that they can at least allow themselves to turn other's ideas and beliefs over in their heads, at least giving validation to thoughts different from their own. A little respect doesn't hurt either....just sayin'. I would really find a "cookie cutter" world incredibly boring, probably enough so that I would go a bit nuts. That said, Copernicus, Galileo, and a great many others, considered i***ts and worse, where would this world be today, if a great many of them hadn't ignored the naysayers.

you have a good point there, open mind in many things is wonderful, in the matter of right and wrong it seldom is a good idea to be too flexible. Murder is immoral, c***ting on your spouse is too as is ruining your health and mind with drugs no matter how much fun you think they are. Having spent my life between 14 and around 20 stoned or drunk as often as possible I have great reverence for being non drinking and not a drug user since then.

For instance, some would say "divorce is wrong", but to that one, I would say (2) things: 1) never cavalierly enter into marriage in the first place, but 2) if he or she is an abusive spouse and will not/can not change his or her behavior, then there is dispensation.
