I don't care what anyone says. Dogs are people too, with complex personalities. They're also your best friend. I was just reading about a dog who placed itself between a snake and child. Saved the child, but got bit. I believe the anti-venom was effective, and the dog is recovering.

There have also been instances where dogs have jumped into freezing water to rescue a child. Dogs rock!
