Want to make someone's day?
Try This.
For sometime now when I, in my daily activities, I encounter and especially friendly or helpful clerk or cashier I simply hand them a $2.00 bill. At first they are shocked, then curious and many times they tell you they cannot accept tips.( Go to your bank and ask for $2.00 bills and most all have them )
I say this is not a tip, it is for your helpful and friendly attitude and it is a souvenir to remind you it is appreciated.
The smiles and gratitude YOU receive is well worth it.

I'm just curious. Do you ever get strange reactions from people? Do they ever refuse it thinking there must be a catch? I stop into a lot of places and am in contact with a lot of strangers so this could get expensive, but I like the idea and I will try something similar. Thanks and welcome to the site!

Yep, get all kinds of reactions. Am surprised at how many people has never seen a $2.00 bill. Have never had one refused yet however. Everyone wants to be recognized and this is just my way or doing so to those of us who are in mundane jobs and dealing with the public, get little respect.
I do not go passing them out indiscriminately so my cost is not much each month. Maybe $20-$30 and not much considering you could effect someone's life. Also there is no "up-charge" getting them from the bank direct.
Good luck and appreciate your remarks and giving this a try.

When I was in my 20's, I used to tip my dentist because he used gas and never hurt one bit!

What a nice thing to do ..The smile must be worth it alone...

I like the pay it forward too..Always such a surprise to the party receiving it if you happen to still be wherever, when done...

I see you are new..Welcome and enjoy..Some very nice people here and some not so much..Just remember its about their passion of topic and take nothing personally..
