As much trouble as I have had with eloctronic devices, and see others have, I don't see this as viable.
It took me 45 minutes at the insurance office Thursday to complete a 10 minute t***saction because the ladie's computer was acting up. One example.

The liberals will never buy it. Makes too much sense. They must get rid of the evil guns.

Remember all of the pissing and moaning about seatbelts and airbags in cars? How is it bad to encourage work on developing a firearm that only an authorized user could fire? If a bad guy gets a gun away from a cop he can't use it. Perhaps a stolen gun could be remotly locked or GPS traced so it could not fire and could be recovered. Only i***ts could be against technological improvement of any product, especially improvements that significantly improve the products safety.

I was never against seatbelts, or airbags in cars. They save lives. Seatbelts are mechanical, airbags are too somewhat, but it takes electronics to trigger them. Electronics fail all the time. I don't trust them.

Guns are perfectly safe, in the hands of a competent, law abiding citizen. Guns aren't the problem. Criminals are. If we dealt with violent felons the way we should, there would be a lot less of them. If we had tougher sentences for crimes committed with a firearm, and a mandatory death sentence for willfully k*****g someone, gun crime would be almost non existent. Can you deny this?

I think "zero tolerance" and "mandatory sentences" are a bad idea. It leaves no wiggle room for the individual making the
decisions, it even takes away any possibility of exercising common sense in any given case. There is no cookie cutter case.
A legislature cannot predict what will happen 5 years from the time they passed a mandatory sentence law. It is far better
to have people with good judgement sit in a position to make determinations on an individual basis.
Also, if this person who is supposed to have good judgement turns out to be less than expected they can be replaced,
replacing the law would take months at a minimum.
Have you ever heard of a legislature, at any level, admitting they passed a bad or unworkable law ??

You misunderstand what I said. I'm talking about premeditated murder. The punishment should fit the crime. A life for a life. Sounds fair to me.

If a k*****g is accidental, there is some wiggle room. Otherwise, a speedy trial...followed by a speedy execution. That is justice.

Your statement that "only i***ts could be against tech. inprovments of any product" is ironic .. I can visualize you looking down the barrel of a smart gun, slaping the grips and saying.." Why don't this thing work".. please leave all firearms alone kevy , the are only to be used by adults ..

I think they should be executed in the same way that they k**led their victims.

I don't know about that. Who would perform the executions? What would that do to them? For particularly heinous murders, simply bury them up to the neck and wait for tide to come in.

Yeah.....I can see your point.
We do have a lot of empty desert in the southwest though.

That's a good idea Tugboat. I sometimes watch those true crime shows on TV, and I've seen murderers get as little as five years in prison.
