Mine owners the worst enemy of the coal miners.
With all the heat Hillary is taking for her statements on shutting down coal mines I thought it interesting when MSNBC interviewed a coal miner who said the biggest treat to coal miners are mine owners because in order to save money they are shifting from shaft mines to mountain top removal which uses only about 10% the labor of what a shaft mine would use. I find it more than a little ironic that the real bad guys are the mine owners themselves. After all, why have 200 miners when you can have 20 putting out the same or more in production. And of course you can't argue for the 180 people who can no longer feed their families because that's all part of how a free market system works correct! And economist Don was just shedding tears over the jobs the miners lost and it turns out it was the mine owners causing all the layoffs. Now he has to dry his eyes, shrug his shoulders, and explain how this is all what a free market system does to deliver the highest profits and for the lowest cost. Capitalism, you just gotta love it, huh...

Not much different that car manufacturing up until the 70's where everything was gone by hand in the beginning it was switched to robots. Hey I know, Hillary can bring the Mexicans in and put them to work in the mines, hence no American labor force in those mines.

I guess this means you love socialism !
Would you prefer the company goes belly up instead of laying off some of the workers ?

If the company isn't doing the "working man" any favors and just lining their pockets then, yea, it should go out business. People don't go to work, so that they are eligible for welfare benefits, but if you think anyone can live on $12/hr...go do the work yourself....
That $12 an hour sounds more like SS than work.

Twice as much of nothing is still nothing...that's absolutely reprehensible.
$27.20 is nothing, how do you figure that? If Clinton gets her way they might get half of that on unemployment.

Don Blankenship was both Chairman and CEO of the Massey Energy Company — the sixth largest coal company (by 2008 production) in the United States — from 2000 until his retirement in 2010.[ A federal grand jury indicted Blankenship on November 13, 2014, for conspiracy to violate mandatory federal mine safety and health standards, conspiracy to impede federal mine safety officials, making false statements to the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as securities fraud.
SEC filings show Blankenship was paid $17.8 million in 2009, the highest in the coal industry. His 2009 pay represents a $6.8 million raise over 2008 and almost double his compensation package in 2007. Blankenship also received a deferred compensation package valued at $27.2 million in 2009.
Miners need to start k*****g other miners so their pay improves....or....?
He gets paid a mountain of money to do nothing except k**l people and if any of the people that worked for him show up late 3 times in a row: they're fired.
So that's his fault? Every CEO in this country is over paid, this is considered part of going business. Pick any successful business top dog makes much more than the cleaning staff.
By one being dirty they all must be?
Who do we blame for bad air bags? I mean someone had to know right? Hey let's go back, way back, Ford Pinto or maybe Firestone's 721!

Yes, he is responsible for the safety of his workers, he violated that trust, clearly, he needs to spend the rest of his sorry days in prison, which he can pay for out his pocket and what money remains can be given to the workers as compensatory compensation for putting their lives on the line. If Trump can walk away from debts paid for by investors than the investors who painted profits into a corner can pay for the damages and walk away with nothing.
Takata is to blame for bad airbags....anymore questions....profits before safety...profits before safety....go stick you head in a blender.

And what about your post indicates you give a s**t about the miners?
You're using them just like the people you're tying to use them against.

Er...does that include benefits?
I heard the hag say she wanted to put coal mines out of business. How would that help miners?
