The Obama administration misled Americans about supposed "moderates" that officials were dealing with in the Iranian theocracy to forge a nuclear proliferation deal — all to make the deal more palatable to the American public, according to The New York Times.

Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, even boasted about how he helped create the false narrative to mask that Iranian hard-liners were really calling the shots, the Times reports.

Rhodes concedes to the Times that the so-called moderate regime is not moderate at all, commenting: "We're not betting on it."

"We created an echo chamber," he tells the Times in a piece to appear in the Sunday magazine of the newspaper. "They were saying things that validated what we had given them to say," he adds about so-called experts praising the deal in the press.

According to the Times, when Rhodes was asked about his misleading version of the deal, Rhodes said, "In the absence of rational discourse, we are going to discourse the [expletive] out of this."

"We had test drives to know who was going to be able to carry our message effectively, and how to use outside groups like [the anti-nuke group] Ploughshares, the Iran Project and whomever else," he tells the Times.

"So we knew the tactics that worked. We drove them crazy," he tells the Times, referring to Republicans and other opponents of the deal, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Leon Panetta, former secretary of defense, tells the Times the hard-line regime and its military arm was still in charge at the time of the Iran deal negotiations — despite what the administration said.


"There was not much question that the Quds Force and the supreme leader ran that country with a strong arm, and there was not much question that this kind of opposing view could somehow gain any traction," he tells the Times.

"I think the whole legacy that he [Obama] was working on was, 'I'm the guy who's going to bring these [Mideast] wars to an end, and the last goddamn thing I need is to start another war.'"

Without naming him, Panetta suggested to the Times that Rhodes was one of several on Obama's staff who told the president only what he wanted to hear.

"They thought their job was not to go through this open process of having people present all these different options, but to try to force the process to where they thought the president wanted to be," he recalled.

"They'd say, 'Well, this is where we want you to come out.' And I'd say, '[expletive], that's not the way it works.' "

I also heard that Rhodes' brother runs one of the "alphabet" medias [ABC or NBC] and while the Iran deal was in full negotiation, Kerry's daughter was marrying one of the Iranian Guard; or some such. Funny, the "BHB" administration is lambasting Mr. Trump about having no experience in "Foreign Affairs," and Rhodes was like a "BHB" Lobbyist who probably only left DC to go to NY!!! There have been many of us here trying to use common sense regarding the apparent honesty, or lack of same, of this administration. We have been met with denial, arrogance, and insult from the left, and too often....filth when they run out of excuses.

What's important is that people know how the administration lied regarding Iran. We have been saying what this guy finally admitted to. When one looks at the chronology of events leading up to, and following the nuke deal, it didn't take a particle physicist to see clearly what had happened, yet the leftys here had every excuse in the book, insilted us...ad nauseum with their i***t tactics trying to lie and shift focus. What they don't ynderstand is that all their bull doesn't change anything and eventually it blows up in their face.

I find it appalling that so many people can be faced with concrete evidence, including one's own memory, and they still try to swerve and wriggle out of it. It is as if to them being correct, or at least pretending to be, is more important than the health of the country. It makes me question their patriotism. If someone is not filled with p***e to be an American, they need to.move elsewhere.

When you have the cult of personality, facts don't matter. I know. I have argued with well educated i***ts and can even get them to admit on some points that their hero is a jack ass. BUT,,,,, their hatred for Christians, Conservatives, and Republicans, Pardon the joke, Trumps t***h and facts.

My theory is that Democrats did such a fantastic job of demonizing Bush, the Iraq War, Republicans, and American traditions from 2005-2008, that nothing Hitlery or Barry could possibly do, will matter in the least to them. Our only hope is that the split between Bernie and Hitlery, combined with Pot, alcohol, and apathy will keep enough of them home in November.

Our government wreaks of criminality in almost everything it seems anymore...So tired of the "t***sparency of this government and the POS residing in our oval office..His mission is not the welfare of this country or World peace as some play this Iran deal..He is completing "his assignment" from those that actually g***med him for the position he now holds..

Rhodes has been played as the aspiring young writer looking to achieve and make a name for himself.Rather obvious this is about they can play to discredit unless they come out and says its a made up for sensationalism and has no merit..I know I want to see more on this and specifically just exactly how close to all of those involved he really was..

This Iran deal, from day one, was never anything more than BO giving them the ability to have nuclear power-heads quicker..That's all...Yes, it was a con job right from the beginning to We the people and obviously Congress as well..But not so much because of Rhodes admissions of what he knows or thinks he knows of what went down..More so because you have to be a complete i***t not to see this country got nothing in exchange and Iran got everything they wanted, including all their money back to further enable to seek what is needed to in fact have nuclear capabilities now.That simple and that damn d********g!!!! We'll have to see how this plays out since this information has been brought forward. As you say, if indeed this is true, this is a dangerous situation.

I hope people pay attention to this however, I'm astounded at the number of apathetic people there are. I actually don't think this will cause the outrage it deserves unless it is talked.up by many.

You have to talk to the brain dead that you know personally to understand them. Again you can present the most logical intellectual case that their highly educated brains can understand, and it still comes down to the hatred for Bush, the Iraq War, Christianity, and Amerika that Democrats like Pelosi, Reid and Schumer successfully perpetrated. Events aided them in their schemes. The Republican Congressional sex scandals of 06, the New Orleans flood, the length of the Iraq War, and the financial collapse of 2007-08 all created the perfect storm for an unqualified Marxist Clown to take over the country. Even 7 and a half years of failure can't shake their belief in their hero. H**e and fear of Republicans ' Trump ' their better judgement.
