High cost of health care insurance

Yesterday we got a notice, from our insurance company, that our health care insurance has gone up another $200 a month, to $1594.

I am 63, my wife is 54 and I have been self employed all my life. We have been cought in the preexisting condition trap, and couldn't change our company.

Most poeple have no idea how much health insurance really costs, because they are on some kind of insurance program partly paid by someone else. Imployer, government, somebody.

That's why I am so thankful that we finally are going to get a NATIONAL HEALTH PROGRAM.

Now to be fair, what we are getting isn't what I would have liked. I would have liked to have a SINGLE PAYOR plan, like Canada, or France, but I am happy with anything.

In my oppinion, health care should be a NON PROFIT adventure. People in the system should be paid well, but no "company" should be allowed to make any money.

I would even go so far as to have Doctors and Nurses schooled for nothing, or almost nothing.

Several years ago, the head man at United Health Care made $100 million. Every one of those dollars was paid by someone for health care, not for some BIG DOG insurance excutive!!

I say we need health care for ALL PEOPLE, NOT JUST CITIZENS.

VIVA OBAMACARE

The borders are still open and you are free to move to a more socialist state. Maybe they should have said that when you were in business for yourself that you couldn't make a profit.
This is what makes America the greatest country in the world FREEDOM. If you don't like it you are free to leave and by the way take Obama with you.

If you get cancer, how much should they be allowed profit from your disease? If you have diabetes, how much should they be allowed to make off your sickness? And you call that the American way. Wow.

I agree with you. People do NOT know how much medical care costs. But there is a difference between the cost of medical care and the cost of medical insurance, no matter how often supporters of nationalized health care try to use the terms synonymously.

Did the insurance company happen to mention WHY they were raising your rates by $200 per month? Might it be due to changes in your policy that have been mandated under Obamacare? For example, is tattoo removal now covered by your insurer? How about a******ns? How about sex-reassignment surgery?

Oh? Why, you ask, would you ever need those things. Well, if you don't have any tattoos, and with your wife probably being well beyond child-bearing age, you probably don't need coverage for those things. Perhaps you're perfectly happy with being male and your spouse is perfectly happy being female, so g****r surgery is not something you want or need either, is it?

Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of HHS couldn't care less what you specifically want or need. The only way Obamacare works (financially speaking) is by spreading the cost for every single treatment or procedure among as large a group as possible. No one can opt out. No one is given a choice. (Unless your group made huge donations to the president's re-e******n campaign, and then you get a waiver).

You also suggest that doctors and nurses be trained for nothing. I assume that you mean no cost to THEM. There is always a cost. And YOU will have to pay for it in higher taxes. And after these doctors and nurses are fully trained, are they going to agree to allow you to decide what "well paid" means? A brain surgeon might spend ten years in schooling and training. Do you think he or she might have a feeling that they are worth more than YOU think they are? Who will decide how much they are worth. If you have a brain tumor, my guess is that you'd think they were worth a lot. If your neighbor across the street has the brain tumor, maybe you might lower your estimate of what they are worth. See the problem?

In that case, so much for your claim that "... we need health care for ALL PEOPLE, NOT JUST CITIZENS."

The last time I was in the barber shop, there was this guy there, about 50 I would say, b***hing that his health insurance (He had some kind of retired milatary insurance, I can't tell you any more than that) had gone up from $50 a year, to $600 a year.

When I told him how much mine was, he said that it was his right to not pay for health insurance, "Did you serve your country?" he asked, I said I hadn't, he told me that he had, and he shouldn't have to pay this overpriced $600, he should only have to pay $50.

It seemed to me to be a pointless conversation to continue.

Jim Yardly:
You have made my point, heath care cost, and insurance cost are different, and they SHOULD NOT BE.

And secondly you are right again, I do think that Doctors and Nusces should be trained at tax payer expence. Then it is reasoniable for them to work at a reasoniable salary.

I don't understand your last statement. Do you think that person, with the brain tumer, should not be treated?

I read, and I agree with the attitude you expressed to the veteran in the barbershop. This is a pointless conversation.
