Cruz Ends P**********l Campaign

By Jonathan Swan - May 3, 2016 - The Hill

Ted Cruz on Tuesday night suspended his p**********l campaign after losing to Donald Trump in Indiana's primary.

"From the beginning, I said I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory," Cruz said in his speech before supporters in Indianapolis. "Tonight, I'm sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed. Together we left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we got. But the v**ers chose another path. And so, with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."

Stunned supporters shouted "no!" as Cruz informed the crowd of his decision.

Until that point, Cruz had insisted he would stay in the race until the Republican convention in Cleveland this summer, and predicted he would beat Trump in a floor fight for delegates.

But there were signs this week that Cruz was losing grip of his plans, which relied heavily on Indiana.

As polls showed Trump's growing dominance over the Texas senator, a desperation began to seep into Cruz's tactics.

On Monday, he dramatically clashed with Trump supporter, who repeatedly called him "Lyin' Ted" and told Cruz that Indiana would reject him for Trump. It all played out in front of TV cameras and quickly went v***l.

And just hours before the Indiana polls closed Tuesday, Cruz threw every insult he could muster at Trump, ditching his longstanding promise to refrain from making personal attacks against his rivals.

Cruz labeled Trump a "pathological liar," a "serial philanderer,' a bully, "utterly amoral," and a narcissist to a degree America has never seen before.

While Cruz had always hedged when asked whether he would quit if he lost Indiana; his campaign had laid a huge bet on the state.

His campaign and John Kasich’s made a deal in which Kasich would stay out of Indiana, while Cruz would steer clear of campaigning in Oregon and New Mexico. The agreement, which began to fray almost immediately, was widely viewed as a failure.

Now Cruz is gone, a Trump nomination is all but inevitable.

Excellent! Now, will Cruz stay true to his pledge to back the nominee?

I hope so. It's time to unify the party. 👍👍👍

Cruz may be out, but the RNC is not. Look at how many people on the rules committee that have made statements - before the rules committee has been elected. They think no one will notice that the rules committee has been selected already, even though the rules say the rule committee will not be elected until the convention. The RNC still insists that the rules will be t***sparent and everything above board, although everyone realizes it is not nor will be - because they've never had a problem snowing the v**ers before and cannot envision a non blind, non compliant v**er base.

As I've said before; if Trump does nothing else this year, he has mowed down the patriotic bushes the sleazy, slimy political types have been hiding behind all these years. The establishments ass is flapping in the wind and they are still unaware of it, mostly because their heads are still in there and the doodoo that kept them from hearing their constituents, also prevents them from hearing the wind of change. Wh**ever will the GOP elite do - when they are forced to look for work?

Sure - he still thinks he's the establishments savior. Perhaps he'll announce that Paul Ryan is his running mate.

I agree with what you said abut Trump and must only add that what you say applies to both parties, major~~Wh**ever would any of them do, including the Dems... Same boat, different "ore".......

It is reported Reince Priebus issued a "tweet" saying Trump will be the nominee and we must now unite to fight against Hillary... ...I have not seen it only heard it on CNN...So far this is all I've found about it..

http://www.vox.com/2016/5/3/11585108/donald-trump-wins-rnc-nomination

Seems rather peculiar that they would do a 180 turn around and say they will support Trump now..
I would like to believe it but it just doesn't sit right with me..Other than them knowing they are k*****g the party by the minute by trying to reject Trump and if they did not embrace Trump the party would in fact be over?????

Perhaps Cruz saw he was not going to win against Trump and even if he did the RNC would not endorse him either??..

Perhaps he is going to sit back and see if nominated for the SCOTUS seat??

Perhaps we have just lost a viable candidate that does have a strong foundation on Constitutional Law and needs to be somewhere on that Hill where he can truly make a difference and maybe that would in fact be on the SCOTUS panel..

And finally, perhaps, just perhaps he would accept a VP request from Trump?? He has said he would not inthe past, but he is now not running or at least suspended his campaign and may just feel it puts him that much closer to it 2020 too??

Politics is a crap shoot anymore, it ain't over, till its over and I trust none of them..

Well, maybe not third but certainly "last".........He should have pulled out long ago...Must think he has that brokered convention in his pocket until just a bit ago with the RNC now embracing Trump...Supposedly embracing I might add..

I have ALWAYS put both those party's in the same boat. Each is as slimy and corrupt as the other, even to the point of working TOGETHER to ensure their supremacy. That's why the other candidates for President and other offices are NEVER invited to nationally aired debates and events - because the DNC and RNC refuse to participate and threaten to drop all advertising from those networks that try to get them to.

That is why I am so staunchly non partisan, because the democratic and republican party's are rotten to the core. Now, don't get me wrong, there are 10's of 1000's of decent people that belong to either party, who have been betrayed at every turn by their party leaders and the i***ts that were elected under their banner. Should these 10's of 1000's of people ever be able to meet and talk to each other without the influence of their leadership, they'd find more in common than not - but they are never allowed to have those conversations - that would be damaging to partisan politics. Democrats and republicans working together for the common good?! Not on your life!

Trump has achieved his main goal and that was to make sure no true conservative got elected. He is more in line with the establishment tan he pretends and time will prove it. Now we can look forward to a Hillary Presidency and probably a Democrat Senate. When the MSM, Democrats, and others reveal the true Trump the American people will have a different opinion of him.

Exactly! Trump is a flaming liberal who has supported liberal causes and candidates all his life. He's never supported conservatives.
There's really little difference between Trump and Hillary. After all he himself said she was a great Secretary of State and donated to her heavily.
Trump's supporters are in for a rude awakening.

I am afraid you may be at least partially right, nevertheless, I will support Trump because ANYONE is better than Hillary the Harridan.
