Why some chemicals are illegal
Some drugs will, after ingesting them, immediately get you hooked and you will do anything to get money for another high. Drugs are easier to avoid than overcome. It is easier not to take that first hit than to get off drugs. Cocaine, crack, heroine, and opium are illegal because, although they make you feel good, your pursuit of pleasure will make you useless for any other purpose. Those hooked on drugs have to resort to crime to get money to buy drugs. To get a person hooked on drugs, drug dealers give away the first hit for free. After a person becomes addicted, they have to pay for the next high. Drug dealers are a poison and a danger to any society. They don’t care about their clients. They don’t care how the junkie gets the money. They care about easy money and rich lifestyles. Drugs are bad for society. Happiness and feeling good should not be our highest priority. These are short sighted goals trade short term gain for long term pain. No one aspires to be a junkie or alcoholic. If people would think about their futures and realize that to keep a job they have to be sober the number of people using drugs would decrease. People don’t give away houses. While they may want to treat you like a child no one will provide for you like a child when you are an adult. There is a reason not to do drugs. I have seen people better than myself lose everything they had because they did drugs. I have a few functioning recreational drug users who got high after work but who could hold down a job. What I have never seen is drugs help anybody.
