Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else notice the atrocious spelling and puncuation of so many posters? Do those errors cast doubt on the poster's credibility?
I'm not referring to the occasional spelling or typographical error, but to the obviously ignorant use of words.
Some examples are those who don't know the proper use of:
to too two
your you're
there their they're
were where we're
boarder border
are or our
and an
site sight cite
sense since
A grade school graduate should understand these simple words along with the many others I won't bother to list. And the one thing that is so wides[read is the use of 's to denote a plural.
I'm not a spelling policer, but my point is that I often doubt a poster's credibility if he can't write in a literate manner. My question is "Do other people share this doubt when reading these poorly written posts?".
After so many years reading facebook posts, I would say its sadly par for the course :(

You may not be the "spelling policer"; however, I tend to be. I could spend fourteen hours a day on spelling and grammar on various posts.
There are individuals who post who will freely admit their lack of spelling and writing ability, but post ideas coherently. My issue is with those who present themselves as our betters because of their, supposed, great knowledge on topics; however, could not pass an elementary spelling or grammar test.

Perhaps a few more will dress up their post now.
But let me point out you had two. Not to or too. Miss spelled words.
But I did enjoy your post.

Not to be difficult; however, if you are going to correct someone for "Miss spelled words", you might want to spell misspelled correctly.

Okay I miss spell lots of words & rely on the spell checker.
On my post it is spelled "Miss spelled " That is okay with the spell checker. Missspelled is underlined in red by the spell checker. Misspelled is okay.
So okay it is just an extra s.
Between you & the spell checker I may well learn to spell better.
Thank you.

I guess life is about always trying to improve. When we stop it is over or is it not over until we stop.
For a moment I thought that made sense.
But I think I have been on here to long & need sleep.

If all who have made mistakes are removed from the OPP, it would be void of any posts/posters.
I would be a non-entity, and would miss my friends! :-(

Thanks for pointing out my errors.
My problem is not spelling errors. but typos caused by my very poor, 83 year old eyesight. I am not a "touch typist" and I do have trouble seeing the keyboard. My SOP after typing is to go back over the words with a magnifier and try to catch and correct the errors. I do miss some of those errors.

I am in the same boat on this issue as you are. My eye sight is not as good & I hit the the wrong key a lot.
Well have a nice day. As we age having another day is a good day.

First thing every morning I breath on a mirror. If it fogs up, it's a great day. If someday it doesn't fog up, I will go back to bed.

Funny, Slatten. You should get paid for your wit.
I don't agree that's grammar and spelling are a necessarily a reflection of a person's mental talents. For example: Annie Oakley may not have been good at grammar and spelling but, she could shoot a rifle better than 99.9% of shooters.
