3rd chapter Revelation

Verse 1 – 3

This is addressed to the church in Sardis. They think they are okay but God is not pleased with them. Like Ephesus they are told to repent and go back to the way they used to do things. Ironically in America we have changed for the worse. We have dropped the family values and morals that were working for us. We have sexually transmitted diseases that can kill you. Women are having children by different men and men are having children by different women, and nobody cares about the kids. We treat adults like kids and kids like adults. We need to go back to he old way of doing things. If we keep traveling down this path, we will be included in the many that think they will be accepted, but when we meet Christ we will be rejected.

Verse 4 – 6

Everybody is not the same. If you can keep your head while everyone else is losing theirs you will get a blessing. Notice it is possible to have your name written in the book of life only to have it blotted out. This exposes the fallacy of those who teach once saved always saved.

Verse 7 and 8

The key of David, when it opens a door no man can shut it, and when it locks a door, no man can open it. This may apply to biblical knowledge. Those that have shall receive more, but those that have not shall lose what little they have. Read the word of God and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart.

Verse 9

The Jews believed themselves to be the chosen children of God but their religion made them worse than if they hadn’t practiced it. A lot of people today love to praise God while this nation has murdered 60,000,000 children before they had a chance to draw their first breath. The political correct movement is led by satan. God’s word says what it says and is what it is. God’s word says hypocrites will be under true worshipers. Some think they are pleasing to God while they ignore the things He said for us to do in His word. In fact the bible calls them the church of satan.

Verse 10

With God a little can count for a lot and you just do the best you can and things will work out in your favor. Others may look at your whole life as if it were a T.V. show but nothing last forever. You should not define yourself by your past. This is why the first message of being a Christian should be repentance. The unforgivable sin is mistaking Jesus for satan or blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Verse 11

Patiently endure until your change comes. Christ has blazed a trail for us to follow. His entire life was an example for us.

Verse 12 and 13

Only those who overcome are blessed. We are too concerned with this life. We should prepare for adulthood as children. Our young adult years would be better spent engaging in something productive. Other than getting high, getting drunk, or having orgasms.

Verse 14 through 22

Verses 14 through 22 address the church of Laodicea. We should know that in every situation God is faithful. This church thinks it is doing the right things because of material prosperity. If you are a friend of the world you are an enemy of God. James 4:4 The interesting fact is that while they think God is pleased with them actually they make God want to throw up.
