25th chapter Matthew

By the way, Matthew is the only book in the New Testament written in Hebrew. Hebrew is the language most of the books of the Old Testament are written in. I’ll just do a verse by verse study.
Verse 1

If you want to go anywhere it is best to listen to someone that has been there. You would never let a person who has never been to Dallas tell you how to get to Dallas. Jesus ruled in Heaven with His father, came to this earth, and went back to Heaven. He probably knows more about Heaven than somebody that has never been there and was born after 1900.

Verse 2 – 4

The only thing that separated the wise from the foolish is planning for the future, the wise plan for the future. In this the extra oil symbolizes something. It symbolizes extra knowledge from a deeper study of God’s word. Don’t base your eternal soul on hearsay. Something you heard someone say. There might be a reason for the trouble everyone went through to print the King James Bible. It may be that there really is a God and He does care for us but there may be someone who is more powerful than us who is criminally insane.

Verse 5 – 7

We all go through the same thing. We are not pieces of wood and it is natural to get tired, hungry, horny, and at times there will be moments that we don’t feel so strong. That is why it is important to use your waking hours wisely. We will all grow old. We should prepare for old age. Some of us are going to live a long time. Libraries are free and they contain information on any subject you wish to research.

Verse 8 and 9

The truth is you can’t flow in someone else’s anointing. My oil won’t work in your lamp. Even though there is only one King James Bible it will work differently in everyone’s life. It will speak to us all in different ways. But wise can only teach the foolish when the foolish want to learn. These idiots were looking for a quick solution to a problem they brought on themselves. This parable has been in this form for four-hundred years. If people don’t read it they can blame someone else for their laziness and stupidity.

Verse 10 – 13

They didn’t prepare for the future. They wound up lost. Blaming someone else doesn’t solve anything. If you blame, you have abdicated the authority in your life to someone else and your circumstance will never change. The only person you can control is yourself and you should make good decisions and display some self-respect. If you have self-respect you will not become an alcoholic, junkie, or prostitute or stripper.

Verse 14 – 30

It is ironic that the word used for money is talent. We know it’s not really talent because talent is not interchangeable from one person to another. In this story Jesus likens Heaven to a man traveling to a far country but giving his servants money according to his individual ability. To one he gave five and to another two. Finally he gives the last servant one. The profitable servants trade and double their money. The unprofitable servant does nothing with what he has been given. When the master returns he squares up with his servants. The servants who were profitable were made rulers of cities. The unprofitable servant was cast into outer darkness. After God takes over this planet what He does will not be what we expect. In Matthew 7:22 it says many will come to Christ trying to explain that they thought that because they did things for Christ they were okay. God doesn’t do things through people because they are good. God does things through people because He is good and His mercy endures forever. I don’t care what the situation is, sooner or later God is going to feel sorry for and change your circumstance. Many times the idea that those that have shall get more but those that have not will lose what little they have. Today the left loves to point the finger and accuse someone of favoring tax cuts for the rich. The rich pay taxes while the poor do not. How can you give a tax cut to someone who doesn’t pay taxes?

Verse 31 – 46

Who is God on the side of, the religious right or the anti-God left? God is not afraid to pick sides and anyone who stands up for God’s word will have God in their corner. Martin Luther King demonstrated the power of scripture when he used the ideas in the Sermon on the Mount to get civil rights for black people with no political office or legal authority. In this story God tells what is going to happen when He returns. He will put those He will keep on the right (the ironic thing is they are already there). Those going to hell are on the left. The choices we choose to make and the actions we choose to commit determine our fate. Even though shortcomings can always be found at least those who go to church are at least trying to do God’s will. (It is silly to go to a church that doesn’t believe in the bible. If they rebuke you when you ask them to back up their assertions with scripture Jesus says in Matthew 15:14 to leave them alone).

26th chapter Matthew

Verse 1 – 4

This is one of the many times in the bible where Christ predicts his death. The first time He tells the disciples He will be killed Peter rebukes Him and Jesus dresses down satan who is using Peter’s love for Christ to try and change God’s plan. Satan makes emotional decisions and wants us to also. Jesus then follows with “take up your cross”. Everyone talks about what Jesus did for us but never cover what he said for us to do. Well satan deceives the whole world.

Verse 6 – 13

How do you this gospel is the true gospel? If what this woman did in anointing Christ body for burial is not mentioned it can’t be the true gospel. Jesus says in verse 13 that wherever this gospel is preached what this woman has done will be told as a memorial. If you teach the whole bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse you won’t leave anything out.

Verse 14 – 16

Judas is never spoken of in a positive manner.

Verse 17 – 25

This is the last supper. Jesus allowed Himself to get emotionally involved with His disciples and He even washed Judas’s feet. Even though He knew that had the money he got for agreeing to betray Him in his pocket. Judas actually had the nerve to ask Christ “is it I” when he had already arranged the betrayal.

Verse 26 – 30

Today we teach that this somehow means salt less wafers and grape juice. The flesh profits nothing. Jesus says His blood is the New Testament. If His blood is the New Testament then His flesh is the Old Testament. In Exodus the lamb slain was to be eaten. All of God’s word should be studied, analyzed, and applied to our lives.

Verse 31 – 35

This is one of the accounts that are in all four gospels. Peter felt bad after denying Christ but in Mark’s gospel he is the only disciple mentioned by name to meet Christ after the resurrection. We often find ourselves doing bad when we know better. Jesus died for Peter’s sins too. Let’s do the best we can to please the Father. Even though we know we will fall short. We should at least try.

Verse 36 – 46

It is taught that Jesus had a moment of weakness and was afraid. That is ridiculous. Jesus is ageless and timeless and knew what was going to happen and this is why He came to Jerusalem in the first place. He could have stopped the crucifixion at any time. (There were 12 legions of angels just waiting to protect Him; one angel killed 185,000 men in one night in 2 Kings 19:35). Jesus was not praying for Himself, He was praying for those deceived by satan and will feel God’s wrath. Jesus will be our defending attorney on the Day of Judgment. One of the last things He said as He was dying was “forgive them”. I want Him to have my back.

Verse 47 – 56

There are different accounts in different gospels. They all agree that Judas betrayed Jesus but the small details are different. Let’s take some things into consideration. Only Matthew and John were actual disciples of Christ. When Christ was alive Mark was a teenager and got the history from Peter. Luke was a scribe of Paul and researched by asking people what they knew about Christ. By the time accounts of the gospel were written down the disciples were old men about to die themselves who were in different countries. What amazes me is that the accounts are so similar and agree on every major point. If you doubt scripture then you must doubt the Holy Spirit. Jesus said it would remind them of what they said in John 14:26.

Verse 57 – 68

They had already planned to kill Jesus so this is a show trial. I counted about 12 times that Jesus predicts His death. Some of the times He tells His disciples that He will return in three days. Even though they have already decided what the punishment will be they still have to find an offense worthy of death. The ironic thing is by Roman law a Jewish court could not impose a death sentence. As usual, satan has people willing to lie about anything. God hates liars so let Him deal with them. In this case they are lying about what Christ said but their stories don’t match. Anyone present at the trial can tell who is lying. Jesus knew it would be useless to try to say anything. When answering a question of Caiaphas He is found guilty of blasphemy. Once again they had already decided that Jesus would die. Caiaphas tears his clothes and dismisses the useless witnesses.

Verse 69 – 75

This denial is in all four gospels. We think we will do the best for God but life is what happens when you make other plans. There is disagreement between minor details but not major points. This proves scripture because of the time between the actual event and the writing. Luke was not a disciple yet account is similar to the others, although they were in different countries
