Look again at the man on the right & look at hats wore by the French Foreign Legion. I say that they look to be much the same shape. Those men were not looked as wimps or being girly.
The military has multiple roles, including protection against foreign enemies and protection of US shipping. And all government agencies and departments also should be a model for e******y in hiring and in workplace relations with its employees.
Again, this photo is photoshopped. At no time did BAMs wear the "old" style headgear. They've always worn the headgear pictured in the "new" style. Makes me even more suspicious.
Besides, I think any change in headgear for the military would have to go through the House appropriations process. I don't see this thing making out of committee.
What is the the French Foreign Legion wore (and still wear) as headgear? Is it kipes or something like that? Good for keeping cool in the hot North African sun. While hats deeply steeped in the FFL's history. Just as are the dress blues of the USMC.
Remember when the US Navy tried to do away with the button trousers, sailors caps and sailor's smocks? How long did that experiment last? The old bell bottoms with the crazy button front and the rest of the uniform were so steeped in naval history. Am i correct in believing that the old uniforms are back due to pressure from enlisted sailors?
