If it was a Republican at that deserted outpost, he would have k**led Wind In His Hair at first sight, and received a medal. It is a mindset that allows, welcomes, such violence and death. "Stand your ground" the law; I have a right to k**l--not disarm, reason with, look for alternative measures, run away from--this person. The law creates a predisposition to violence. It becomes the primary option. No thought is needed. And all prejudices are allowed. Simple math: k**l.

But violence and death need to be the last thing on our mind, if at all. "Love your enemies" Jesus said. Such laws and the promotion of a gun culture--where 10k people a year are murdered in the US and the nearest industrial country has 200 a year k**led--is sick and ugly. Gun culture promotes violence and mayhem. Gun culture is anti-Christian. Gun culture is a direct threat to the safety of our children, future and this country.

The mindset of the NRA is no different than the mindset of the Brown Shirts: we have to eliminate our enemies, whether criminals or political. Yet Jesus said, "Love your enemies." Loving your enemies is far more important than opposing gay marriage or a******n. Loving your enemies is far more important than attacking Islam or securing American borders. Christians are acting like cowards and fools for the Right. Stand your ground should mean, not k**l your neighbor or carry a gun but stand in the Kingdom of God and be a vessel of peace and love.

Well that's just.. Not well thought out.

OK - Here's a serious question. Please give a serious answer.

Say a thug breaks into your house. What do you do? Give him your money? Your TV, your jewelry? Do you let him rape your wife and children? What? Do you do?

------------------------------------------
Loving you enemy doesn't mean allowing or helping your enemy commit evil acts, nor does it mean to allow yourself or your family to become victimized.

You can love and forgive your enemy without hating yourself. God does not want his children to be victims of evil. He loves you and wants to to be happy and to prosper as a person. The 10 Commandments were written to make mankind more happy. Not to make them into victims.

If you picked up your twisted view of Christianity at a church, perhaps you would benefit by checking into other churches. Most communities have several to choose from.

Why are you presenting the choice as k**l him or give him? Let him have my possessions? Yes. Rape my wife and children? Attempt to stop him. Does that have to mean k**l him? That is how you are presenting this. Non-violence or pacificism does not mean do nothing and cross your fingers. But a Christian must have a mind of peace, no matter what is at stake. "Blessed are the peacemakers..."

You may see my "love of neighbor" as twisted but I see anything less as convenient or secular reasoning.

I never said k**l. You did.

But would you protect your family even if it meant k*****g a thug?

A strait answer would be nice.

A thoughtful and heartfelt post. I do not entirely agree with all but thank you.

This metaphoric nonsense. No thug worth his salt is going to rape your wife and then steal your TV! Turn off the TV! Get a grip.

Thugs are not worth their salt.

But thievery and rape are very real, regardless of your ignorance.

Thugs are smarter than you. They do most of their damage in gun-free zones, where liberals do their best to make sure their right to rape and steal are not infringed.

Because you are working for them.

LOL..

OK, I'll play your silly game. You answer my question, and I'll answer yours.

Think about it carefully before you answer. Breath in through your mouth, and out through your nose. Passing gas doesn't count.

Here's your question...

Why would you prefer your wife and children be raped, sodomized, and murdered rather than protect them?

She has no idea about the NRA and doesn't plan on learning anything that might change her opinion.
SWMBO and I are lifetime members of the NRA, have been to many of their events, conventions and dinners. There is not a more civilized group of people anywhere. Horror of horrors, they even have a blessing before the meetings start and before dinner at the Friends of the NRA dinners. That is SO DANGEROUS isn't it?
