19th chapter Matthew

Verse 1 through 3

The conflict between Jesus and the people in the hierarchy of the religious community is about to come to a head. They are trying to get Him tripped up in His words. Relationships are a subject that there is no right or wrong answer. You can start out with good intentions and things still end badly. In this case they knew what they would ask next when Christ gave a response from scripture. They didn’t study the scripture to get closer to God; they were looking for loopholes for their oppression and transgressions.

Verse 4 through 6
We can see that God does not like it when we don’t see a difference between being married and being single. Marriage should be a special occasion and you should honor your vows and value your commitments.

Verse 7

The Sanhedrin already had this question to ask.

Verse 8 and 9

Relationships are touchy and difficult to predict and define. In America we hold the highest standard on being young and beautiful. Everyone grows old and should have some intelligence for their later years.

Verse 8 and 9

God hates divorce according to Malachi 2:16. While it is true that none of us are sinless we should not be so quick to choose an action that God hates, especially if we consider ourselves saved. All this bed hopping we do when we first become adults does not prepare us for marriage but divorce.

Verse 10

Read 1 Corinthians 7:1 through 7
Verse 11 and 12

It is very difficult to be celibate. It makes for a very lonely life. But quoting Tina Turner; “A man is not complete until he is married, and then he is finished”.

Verse 13 through 15

Little children are put on the same level with the disciples in that Christ says if someone receives them, it is the same as receiving Him. You can find children being very desirous of learning new things. I have never seen a student want to teach the class when the teacher is absent. Do you really think God wants humans to praise Him and ignore the rest of the bible?

Verse 16 – 22

At least three different men who had lot of stuff and were considered by most to be wealthy asked Jesus how to get eternal life? Two times Jesus gives five of the six commandments that are between us and everybody else, and replaces the last with a lesser commandment. In the last case Jesus just gives five. In all cases He omits the commandment “you shall not covet”. This idea must be important because similar but not exact circumstances are in the first three gospels. The idea is found in Matthew 19:16 – 22, Mark 10:17 – 22, and Luke 18:18 – 23. These similar ideas show the importance of the Ten Commandments. When questioned about eternal life, Jesus simply went back to the Old Testament. The Ten Commandments are still important.

Verse 23 and 24

Everyone thinks that having material possessions show that you are blessed by God. Today churches teach bubble-gum Christianity. But instead of putting in a quarter and getting a gumdrop they sing songs and expect to be blessed. People expect God to bless them with good things and they are not responsible for their own actions. I believe one of their songs say, “when praises go up blessings come down”. What we should realize is man makes money but money does not make man. A man’s life consists of more than his possessions. Jesus teaches that there is more to it.

Verse 25

The disciples were astonished! Everyone thinks that God blessings are riches in this world. God teaches that there is more to this life than what you can see. We should not judge by eyesight or hearsay but righteous judgment.

Verse 26

This is another idea quoted in the first three gospels under similar circumstances.

Verse 27 – 30

You can’t beat God giving. Payday comes after you complete the job. We will see if God will judge according to His word or the traditions of men when this age is over.

19th chapter Matthew br br Verse 1 through 3 br ... (show quote)

Who is responsible for this creation?
Are we subjects, or equal partners?
History has tried so hard to tell the truth.
The cacophony of suffering has deafened all.
Google was born just yesterday.
Our forefathers, and our ancestors need to lead the way.
It is time to regain trust in ourselves.
Not the internet, not social media.
We are born of this Terra Firma.
A Computer will not save us.
Our instincts, and our spirit are engaged in an epic battle.
I don't know if we will win or lose.
It is up to everyone.
Creation adores life. It is a representation of itself.
If we can learn to love one another, we have a chance.
We are but one species, and our future is in our hands.
Everyone matters.
