Clear people have it made!A cultural competency workshop" offered at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has determined that flesh colored band-aids are just another example of white privilege.
This conclusion came by way of a segment of the workshop that surveyed the different aspects of white privilege and its pervasiveness in society. In fact, the "white privilege survey" found that said privilege "is more powerful than other types of benefits afforded by society."
Campus Reform pulled this from the survey:
I can choose blemish cover or bandages in "flesh" color and have them more or less match the color of my skin.
Then the student must mark a number between zero and five to represent the t***hfulness of that statement to their life.
But band-aids aren't the only way to tell if one benefits from white skin, according to the workshop. If you can turn on the television and see your race prominently or buy magazines that predominantly feature your race AND it is "positively represented," then you are experiencing white privilege.
Here's another good one noted by CR: "One oddly phrased statement asserts that swearing, wearing hand-me-downs, or not handling correspondences in a timely manner without r****t consequences is a privilege."
Another activity in the workshop helps determine the "Hidden Rules of Class," which reads like a stand-up comedian's routine, as in, "You might've grown up in poverty if you:"
- Can find the best rummage sales.
- Get around without a car.
- Move in half a day.
- Or entertain friends with just personality and stories.
Because, really, there's no way anybody could do those things without growing up poor.
T***hRevolt would like to take this moment to apologize for our privilege as the background to our site is mostly white. We are sorry if anyone is offended. If you'd like, please rate how offended you are on a scale from zero to five in the comments below.
