This is d********g! I'm s**k of politicians saying they care about anything other than themselves! It is on both sides. They are one, and the same to me anymore!!

If the l*****ts have their way, we'll see another Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Che, Castro, Chavez, Pol Pot, or worse! If the right has their way, we will have war on our soil, because the l*****t revolutionaries never quit. Political correctness, corrupt government, and wealthy elites making the calls....we are just plain screwed folks!!

I recently read an article that said that the median annual income for an elected official in the Congress, was around 1 million dollars. I read it again to make sure that was right. We pay them around $224,000 a year - so - where is the rest of that money coming from?

I know the Congress allows itself to take lobbying gifts, campaign donations and engage in insider trading, is that where the extra dough is coming from? That leads to the idea for dealing with the poor: We have term limits of 1 year, put a poor person in every seat of the Congress and within a few years, the only poor left will be the middle class. We certainly will get as much work out of them as we do the current crop of i***ts, so I don't see a downside to this plan.

Of course they care... about keeping them poor.

A big problem for Democrats is that once they aren't poor anymore, they become Republicans. If they really helped the poor, they would put themselves out of business.

They are not one and the same. Look at what makes up the Democrats and then look at what makes ups the Republicans. Republicans are monolithic and Democrats are made up of many different interest groups, most for social justice. How many social justice groups align with the Republicans? If you look at oil contributions, or keep it carbon group, Republicans, the climate-deniers, are 3-1 in donations over Democrats. 10 to one in ruling to continue subsidies (welfare) for what once was outrageously profitable companies.

The Democrats, for nefarious and righteous reasons, are clearly for the people.

Totally and outrageously false. Hitler cared nothing about the people. He, like Trump, was a megalomaniac. Power over, absolute power over, was his only concern. If making the trains run on time got a nod from Germans, the more consolidated his power.

A&W Root Beer floats with Blue Bonnet vanilla ice cream, plopped, not stirred. Sorry, there is no bargaining on these points.

I have no way to be sure if any Democrats actually care about the poor. The Dixie-crats cared nothing about Black people or people in general and became Republicans after desegregation was enforced and racial intermarriage was defeated. This thread seems to still hold true in that Party.

I grew up taught to h**e Republicans. Nothing since then has changed very much, except the need to h**e. Take Flint! Budget concerns dominated over people. Look at Kansas and Louisiana. Look at Wall Street and the Mortgage Companies allowed to run wild and nearly destroy America, thanks to de-regulation by Republicans. Sorry, I find Republicans to be the enemy of the people most of the time.

Here is a unique idea....how about letting your political party biases go, quit listening to the people who tell you what you want to hear, and think for yourself?
There is a whole, big, world out there without an R, or a D on it who just want to live life, and be left alone! Try it!!

The fact that you identify with a political party doesn't make you right, or superior. Thinking that it does makes you stupid.

Interesting. That was my same advice to you. I do not identify with a political party; I identify with Christ. Bombastic sounding, I know, yet that is how I see it. I have written many articles eschewing politics for the Christian over the last two decades. I do not see this point as political but as a Christ directive: care for the least of these. This is how we will be judged, this is what makes us true Christians. The poor are our way to better knowing and serving Christ. Nothing else. Not church attendance, knowing doctrines, or quoting verses from the Bible. Being with the poor is the heart of Christianity.

Rumi is trying to change the subject here, and you picked up the baton. OK. Can you provide a picture of ANY current politician interacting with the poor? Let's see a picture of Hillary or Trump with ghetto b****s, or Appalachiian white trash.
