When last we left my son's shoulder saga.....
After a MONTH, he was finally able to get an MRI of his shoulder. Two weeks after that, he as able to see an orthopedic doctor. The doc took another set of X-rays and said his shoulder was healing fine, on its own, but to come back in another month for another look-see. My son still can't raise his arm above his shoulder without a lot of pain, but, being the good soldier he is, he goes to work every day and cracks the whip over his subordinates, only using his right arm.

Tennessee's workmans comp is a joke, and now, he knows it. He said if he had it to do over, he'd just go to a regular doc and use his medical insurance. The ONLY bright part of this is that he's not had to pay any out-of-pocket monies.

As to me, I'm to see my back doctor on Wednesday. My hips are doing fine, except that I've developed a big knot in my left hip. He put some injection medicine in it a couple of months ago, but it didn't do anything. I think I have a cyst over the replacement hip.

Last month, my back started hurting more than usual. Went to the doctor and had an MRI done. Appears that the disc between L2 &L-3 has totally disappeared. It's literally bone-on-bone. And, it's pinching the nerve root exiting the right side. I had another doctor put an injection between the two vertebrae, but that only lasted for about two weeks. I return to the back doctor on Wednesday to determine another course of action.
In spite of all of this "stuff," we're very blessed.

What I am enjoying is the clown show you guys are calling the Republican Presidential Nomination. It seems that no matter what your GOPTP establishment does or says, it can't stop der Furher, Hrump. I swear, his tactics come right out of Hitler's and Mussolini's play books. He even "hints" that his people will riot if he looses. The burning of the Reichstag, all over again, only this time it'll be the Cleveland Convention Center. And, the 25,000 people who've signed a petition to be allowed to carry their guns into the convention; SURE, let's just pour some gasoline onto the fire.

Say someone gets mad and shoots another. With 25,000 guns, who will the LEO's recognize as the "bad guys?" I imagine they'd just shoot anyone who had a gun in their hand, who wasn't wearing a police uniform. Yea, let's just see how safe the NRA would say we are, now, with everyone armed. I'd really like to hear the "positive spin" that the NRA would put on all the deaths that occurred IF a fire-fight were to break out. It's truly amazing how utterly stupid the NRA's logic is.

Even if there were a terrorist(s), they don't care how many guns there are. All they want is to take out as many people as possible as they detonate the bombs strapped to their chests. They're going to die anyway. One gun or 25,000 guns, it matters not to them. Plus, they'll be dressed just like everyone else. It's not like they'll be wearing a shirt that reads, "I'm a terrorist!" They could be standing right beside you and you'd never know the difference. If anything, they would be dressed in a LEO's uniform. That would allow them to not only shoot at civilians, but to shoot at the real LEO's.

Listening to the GOPTP candidate expound their hateful and very ignorant rhetoric makes me wonder just how stupid we've become; when 2 loud-mouth, empty-headed, know-nothing's are the two front runners for a major US political party. IF, and I mean, IF I voted GOPTP, it would be for Kasich. He the ONLY GOPTP candidate that knows how to at least, "act" presidential. Plus, he has more political experience than the other two, combined.

Even with all her baggage, HRC, to me, has what it takes to be president.

I'm sorry, Archie. I got onto a rant. My apologies. I apologize to jelun, too, for hijacking your post. :XD:

Tx. workmans comp. isn't any better. We dealt with it back in 2000 when my wife had her feet crushed on a freight dock.
I'm glad to hear that your son is a 'rub some dirt on it, and get back in the game' kinda guy!!
Just goes to show that even a left winger can sometimes raise a kid right!

I hate to hear about your hip/back problems!! A cyst doesn't sound like a huge deal; but bone to bone? Man, that's gotta hurt! Hopefully they can get something figured out soon for you! I'll put your name above mine on the list for skeleton transplants, and say a little prayer for you on my daily drive.

The only thing I'll say about your rant, is that I agree with parts of it. Not all, but parts.

As for Jelun.....we are putting forward a shining example of how people with political differences as wide as the Grand Canyon can still treat each other like human beings.

You stay well sir!

Many thanks, Archie! And, blessings to you and yours!
  8-) :)

I'm so sorry to learn of your wife's experience. Were the doctors able to save her feet? Has she been able to recover the use of her feet? Man, and I thought I had it bad. Jeez....

And, so you know, my son didn't "quite" turn out as I'd hoped. He's about as right-wing, politically, as you are!!! Oh, the agony of it all! Where did I go wrong!? :XD:

But, I am still very, very proud of him. He's a single dad, trying to raise 2 pre-teen girls. We help out when asked, (Fortunately, we only live 20 minutes away from them.), but, he carries the lion's share of the load. Plus, he drives about 60 miles, each way, to and from work; working for the State. That makes for many loooooong days for him.

As to jelun and our example, you're very right! You, I respect, along with a few other conservatives on here, AuntiE, Loki and RockKnutne (I do wish he'd come back. I wonder what happened to cause him to leave.), to name a few. There are some "Reich-wingers," out in OPP-land, that I've developed an ardent dislike for, but you've always tried to be respectful. For that, I'm grateful. So, if I ever get out of bounds with you, please, call me on it.

Again, blessings ...

Yeah she has her feet. Thank God!! There were no broken bones by some miracle, but massive tissue damage. And it was all my fault!!
See, I was dock manager, and the one's over me insisted that I leave early on odd days due to the stress of the job.
We were leaving, walking down the dock, telling everyone bye, when we came across ole Jerry. Greatest freight hand I ever met. He was trying to pick up a 3800 lb., round steel billet with a forklift. As we walked by, I told my wife "Let's help Jerry real quick."
We got the thing rolling up on the forks when it hit a flat spot, and came back. My wife had no where to go. She was cornered by pallets of freight. It rolled up over both of her feet, and hit her in the shins. I'm surprised it didn't break her legs! She was off work for about 6 months after that.

Like I said, It was my fault. I never should have allowed that thing to be unloaded on my dock!! It was my fault. Plain and simple. She is doing well though. She has a herniated disc in her back that wears her out sometimes, but she keeps going! She is a blessing that I don't deserve for sure!!

You hang in there buddy; and quit knocking us right wingnuts!!

Maybe you just need some good Texas dirt to rub on your hip, and back!
I know that won't fix it, but I had to take the shot!

You have a good night, and God Bless!

I'm glad to read she's doing well, Archie. I can understand your feelings of responsibility for her accident, BUT, I'm sure there was no fault on your part. Accidents DO happen. There's no way that anyone can see every possible scenario that could result in an injury; you included.

I used to work in a warehouse of a fastener company. We sold bolts, screws, nuts, washers, etc. While I wasn't the "dock foreman," I did load and unload many a trailer. And, I did experience some "close calls." Fortunately, while I did get several bumps, cuts and scrapes, I wasn't ever seriously injured. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them.

As to her herniated disc, I can offer my sincerest sympathy and empathy. If you're willing to travel to Tennessee, I can turn her onto a really great doctor.

Take care, my friend.

Not to worry, alabuck, about the "hijack", as far as I am concerned those who are center and left of can say whatever they wish.
It is the people who lack comprehension about what left means who should apologize.
I hope your son is feeling better. The doctor he is going to really should know that Xrays don't give info about tendons or ligaments, though, which is rotator cuff territory.
Workers' Comp stinks everywhere in my opinion.

Thanks, jelun!! I appreciate your kindness and understanding.

"Son" has been in Florida this week; "spring breaking" it with his 2, pre-teen daughters. As such, I've not heard how his shoulder is feeling.

I agree, too, that x-rays can't show soft tissue worth a flip. But, given that the insurance companies dictate which medical procedures to use and in which order to use them, even the "good" doctors have their hands tied regarding what, how and when to order a procedure. AND before anyone wants to jump on this, according to my doctors, the insurance companies have been doing this loooooonnnnggg before Obamacare was around; at least in Tennessee.

The health care industry is the 4th largest industry in Tennessee. The 3 above it are: automotive, energy and film production. It also has a huge lobby which makes no bones (no pun intended) of its "owning" most of the representatives and senators the state legislature. The ONLY thing the legislature has bucked the health care industry on is expanding Medicare. Even the governor hasn't been able to get his version of Obamacare passed. The GOPTP super-majority in both chambers simply refuses to discuss anything that even remotely resembles Obamacare. Nor are they the least bit concerned that the state is losing out on $6 BILLION to help with offsetting the costs. That the legislators enjoy their state-paid-for health care makes them the very definition of "hypocrites," they care not.

The only other group that has more control over the Tennessee legislature is the NRA. But, that's a story for another thread.
