I have posted a number of things about this 1968 movie and now am ready to do something about the music in it. I think that the soundtrack is one of the most beautiful I have heard for a movie with so much violence in it

Here we have Patricia Janechova and Claudia Cardinale, who was the beauty that they had to have as all of them do. I think that Janechova was 12 or 13 when this was recorded.

The harmonica man in this movie was Charles Bronson and he k**led everyone who was sent after him. He always had that harmonica that was stuffed in his mouth as he was about too tired to hold his father up from h*****g. He spent his life looking for the real k**ler and this movie ended with him k*****g that man Henry Fonda, who was a really bad man in this movie, in case you don't know. He had a tendency to play that harmonica when he was about to shoot someone down.

This music was written by Ennio Morricone who did so much of the work for all the spaghetti westerns of that time.

Yes, it is a very good composition, however , as far as westerns go the compositions in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" is the best that I have heard. Themes, like "Secret Agent Man" the "Peter Gunn" theme and "Harlem Nocturn" are much more to my taste. Feel free to cal them up at youtube and listen. And if you are feeling particularly hostile, listen to "Fire" by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

Listen to this rendition of the song by Vasary Andre to see how a man can sing that form. This tenor really can sing it.

Also, I might let you know that Morricone composed a number of the songs for the spaghetti westerns.

Here is another rendition of that song that I surely love. I really get a kick out of hearing Rieu speak Italian and listen to him several times on this one as I can only make out a bit of the words but do get so much of it back after being gone from Italy nearly 60 years.

I have always liked that rendition of Harlem Nocturn.

Here is another rendition of the theme from Once upon a time in the West. There are a number of our people who will really like this one since it is sung by Andrea Bocelli.

Here is "Your Love" from the movie done in French by two of my favorite singers in French. I don't understand a lot of French but do really like to hear these two women sing the song in French.
Notice in the very beginning the few bars played on the harmonica. Sounds just like the harmonica parts in the movie thrown in.

Roy, I did, I've even watched the movie, twice. As for the very nice looking singer, well, the high notes are not to my taste. All this is because of my Dad, his addiction to HI FI and then stereo and the fact that he flew a B-24 for a total of 70 missions over Germany and Austria...... damaged his ability to hear high notes, and he constantly played classical music (Never Wagner) with copious high pitched violins that made my eardrums itch. He only heard the lower notes and thought it was swell. I have not lost the high end hearing, and still prefer lower pitched music. Ever hear Stevie Ray Vaughn often played to high a pitch for me....BTW, what's all the Japanese writing on a French language song?

I only got to listen to the high pitched notes of Morse Code for 3 years while training at Fort Devens and then listening to it in Europe to keep track of Russian and other Cold War people with them.

Anyway, my hearing wasn't hurt, that I know of, so let me suggest this Rumanian woman playing Your Love from "Once Upon a Time in the West. Maybe the instrument plays too high too. I do love that flute as a musical instrument.

The two French women were recorded by a Japanese company and they put those songs on Youtube. Look around YouTube and you will find a lot of this. Hey, I can't read Japanese any better than I can understand French but I do love the singing of Mirielle.

I have always really liked the music of Acker Bilk and often go top the place where I can hear a lot of it on YouTube. I prefer instrumental music to singing so of course like this one.

How about this one by him?
