Some interesting stuff and great pictures. And I thought using the TV remote was complicated.

What a beautiful bird. Worked on the B-52 G model from 1965 to 1969 as an instrument repairman and avionics technician at Kincheloe AFB in Michigan and Travis AFB in California. Some great memories.

In the late 60s they used to fly those things on practice runs out of Omaha across southwestern Kansas and the farm I worked on was right in the path they took when they turned them around to go home. They were flying pretty low at that time and when one of them went over the combine I was running I shut down more than once thinking my machine was ready to blow up. A couple of months later they were at it again and in the tractor they were just as loud. They were pretty to watch but loud as hell.

Loud is right, I lost most of my hearing because of the B-52. Of course when you are 20 and going to live forever you give little thought to when you are 70 years old. Landing in one of these things in a crosswind is a hoot. It's called "crabbing" and from the cockpit it looks as if the runway is coming at you sideways. Even at 20 it scared the heck out of me. Good times though.

Hearing those things approach was just loud but when they got right over me it was more than loud.

Were your good times those of flying in those things or the normal military time off duty? I loved my job that the Army suggested we get drunk on off duty times because of the kind of work we did, which I really loved. Things got pretty tense sometimes and that is why they wanted us to relax with a glass in hand.
