hi, im debby.i live in washington state, and hope by my addressing something i read is not wrong. it was titled letter to pres. - i do agree with the majority of the USA americans. however, the lady in the groc. line wondered why the lady in a suit and her nails done, etc, could use access, ie: food stamps, maybe cash., not always. well, lets see, is that her only suit?, did it come from the dust balls, thrift store or yard sale, is she going for an interview, and thats maybe the last of her help on that access card.. dont judge a book by its cover. .
this book has been there ! this book is full time 24-7 care giver for her retired USMC dad who is now 84 with alz. and more ! he served 30 years., i dont have opportunity to wear those thrift store clothes right now, i sure felt nice in them, and the last time i had an access card with any left on it, i worked a job, and help to feed my gr. kids. so,, while u cant afford that toy for your kid, they make these really good meals in the bag, .. you can feed 2 people for 4$, or feed your kid what he wants, make it for you and take the second helping to work. what did i do when i had a life? i was a sale rep. one of the best. i could write to pres. O too, and did, with no response. ~
*** not to offend anyone, just rubbed me wrong,

"dont judge a book by its cover" is a good adage to live by.

Does the auto count as a book cover? I realize millions need food stamps but it seems to me that someone who has a Lexus LS does not. Saw this two weeks ago, woman with three kids, $15x.xx in food stamps at Publix. OK the car starts at $72,000, Publix is not for best buys, sales yes but not by the cart load so it seems to me that food stamps weren't really needed.

Good one - you almost made me judge. What I know is that most states exempt counting cars because the federal rule to count cars never got updated from the 1977 value of $4,500. So, it could be her car or a sugar daddy's car if she is in a state that counts cars. Eligibility requires income verification taking 30 days after filing the application.

There are plenty of cases where a divorced or widowed single mom lost her full time job from the recession, is now working a part-time job and SNAP is needed just to get by.

The typical food stamp benefit is $133.85, or less than $1.50 per person, per meal.

I don't really see much of a federal budget savings from cuts in this program. But it's an easy target because this demographic can't afford a lobby or PAC.

I fell bad for this problem ...but it continues all over this country.
my daughter-in-law an I went to a calif safe way store. In front of us checking out. Hair do not done at home.. nails, both hand & toes . Done professionally. Wearing, ortho sandals. ?.$60.00 plus.
We followed her out, yea. New big price car. Payed with...card.
my son an daughter both work. State jobs. That calif cut 2 days a month
No pay plus..15% total pay cut. Their car 9 years old, ...
there is more to compare here. I see both parts..my family giving. Others taking from them..they have moved from California, retired from there state jobs. They are questioning the loss of there retirements..medical and the whole reason they worked 25 plus years..

Wasn't trying to get anyone but with a $72,000+ car I'm seeing no real need for food stamps, common sense. Maybe next time I'll follow.

im 60, both the pickup i drive and the 2011 malibu are in my dads name, since i am unemployed i would qualify for food stamps,!! all im saying is dont be so quick to judge others, my clothes are from thrift stores, and yard sales, and i look good, in my suits, and my vehicles., yet, if i were in the grocery line, with fd st, card, and you saw me get into the malibu, you would assume.. i am full time care giver for my alz dad of 84 yrs, and only driver of cars, hes ret. 30 yrs from USMC , sgt. maj. now.. you wouldnt know that if i hadnt shared it. im a sales rep by trade, thats why i have nice clothes, and i am a single mom of 3 now grown, with 8 gr. kids to boot. judge not..

Hi, I'm just plain ,John. I just always wanted to get this off my chest. This might boarder line politics but it has tormented me since the second e******n of Mr. Obama. Am I the only v**er that wants to know where all the millions of military b****ts went. These v**es alone were going to be able to topple Obama. They suspiciously just vanished. Not one of our leaders even asked if it was met with foul play. Did terrorist take them ? Was the plane shot down? To this day it still torments me that nobody , not one republican , or the media even cares! These b****ts were the only thing left for our sons and daughters that are giving their live for us; to be heard! My heart breaks for them being so mistreated and disrespected by our abusing president. I wonder if we have already been conquered by an enemy because we don't even care. Will a brave and honest Senator and or Representative please do something courageous and fight , and I mean fight hard , to protect us from the tyranny that has gripped the life line of our once great nation, thanks!

Sorry, as long as my family, citizens, v**ers pay for. I feel totally free to "judge". It my right to over see these uses of taxes..so get use to it. You can change things if you choose but values of our country are an were build on an still are in effect.
it use to be...moral values were used to progress society not tear it down..

Nope. Figure it was a power play as most seemed to have disappeared.
