There was a Mensa convention in San Francisco on March 15th.
Mensa, is a national organization for people with IQ"s of 140 or higher.
Several of them went out to a local café.
When they sat down, one discovered the salt shaker contained pepper, and the pepper shaker was full of salt.
How could they swap the contents of the two bottles without spilling any, and using only the implements at hand?
Clearly, this was a job for Mensa minds.
The group debated the problem and presented ideas and finally,
came up with a brilliant solution involving a napkin, a straw, and an empty saucer.
They called the waitress over, ready to dazzle her with their solution.
"Ma'am," they said, "we couldn't help but notice that the pepper shaker contains salt and the salt shaker has pepper."
But before they could finish, the waitress interrupted: " Oh sorry about that."
She leaned over the table, unscrewed the caps of both bottles and
switched them.
There was dead silence at the Mensa table.
Kind of reminds you of Washington D.C.

No, it's nothing like DC, because the waitress didn't spend a large amount of someone else's money fix the problem.

IQ stands for intelligence quotient.

I know that part Loki, I asked the question because its been an ongoing "discussion" with a couple people that throw out all kinds of variables to it..~~Examples~
Smartest person in the world with no common sense
IQ is measured by the accomplishments of the "gifted"
Einstein was smart but was still just a "professor" etc..
I was just interested in what people here thought too..

There are many definitions of intelligence. The one I feel is the most accurate is the ability to extrapolate correct conclusions from known facts. There is a difference between "educated" and "intelligent." What many people call intelligent is simply the ability to memorize known facts. Taking those known facts into unknown territory, i.e.
intuitive thought is, I think, the measure of intelligence. Call it "common sense" if you like, because that is certainly a part of intelligence. If you know A, and you can infer B & C correctly, that is a measure of intelligence.

That is why I had it sent to you. Boot and I wanted to increase the membership and enjoy more company. Unfortunately for Swabbie's, they don't measure up. :XD:

We think alike...IQ tests can be subjective and to some degree are, intentionally.. I suggest they are to bring about what you just said here..The ability to define, rationalize and "infer B & C correctly...
Once had a Professor give a hypothetical and then ask for open discussion on it..As we did he would correct or expound on the "logic" of the hypothetical..When he got to me I simply said in the facts given of your hypothetical there is no correct answer as you did not give enough to discern the facts to come to a conclusion..
He said but what if...I replied what if is irrelevant to your hypothetical ...The summation you give is your interpretation of what you were asking versus what we understood of it..I then asked him , is that not true???

I'll bet he just loved you. Kind of like my History Professor, World Civ/Ancient civilizations. He stopped calling on me when I raised my hand.
