It appears that The Tea Party is going to have two front lines to defend.
First, they are being cut off from business such as the US Chamber of Commerce. Business want to put an end to this shut down and debt ceiling threat strategy. It is a market disruption. If the establishment GOP or moderate republicans can't stop it, Corporate Bank and Finance donators apparently will. Execs are okay with cutting parks, WIC and even Social Security but don't threaten economic growth, T-bills or the Big Board.
Second, existing Tea Party incumbents are being cut off from Washington-based groups that believe they can find stronger Tea Party candidates.
I don't think this strategy is sustainable and will result in more GOP losses.

Here's one business writer's opinion of how The Tea Party role will play out:
"The disastrous consequence for Republicans is a self-perpetuating party-within-a-party that doesnt care if it makes the wider party unelectable nationally. Tea Party supporters think they are fighting for the Republican soul, and they are: If they win, they will drive the party so far from the median v**er that a Republican president will become unimaginable.
