I wonder about these things

I've heard the phrase " back and forth" all my life and I often wonder why we never discuss those things that went back - and came in first, second or third. What's so special about forth place?

What kind of people let miner's go into dangerous mines? Aren't there laws about underage workers?

I hear the phrase "African American" all the time. Doesn't anyone realize that not all black people come from Africa? Some of them were born in Chicago.

I heard my Parents say "Lord willing and the creek don't rise" and I wondered - couldn't the Lord control the level of the creek, if He wanted to?

When something unpleasant happened to me as a child, My Patents would say "it's God's will", and I would wonder - why did He tell them that and not me? I'm the one the bad sh*t happened to.

When people are trying to console someone, they say "it'll be ok", and I wonder - how the hell do they KNOW that?

When do things become "traditions" and who started them? Are some things tradition right out of the box?

How can we tell if someone has integrity, when we don't know diddley squat about them, because they say so? How would we know if they were lying about it?

I was asked "what's on your playlist" and I said, "cards, video games, board games" and they looked at me like I was a loon. I still don't know why.

Growing up, I always thought I was playing cowboys and idjits, at least, that's what it sounded like to me. Ever wondered about what it was like growing up always being the idjit and never the cowboy? Ask me sometime and I'll tell you.

As far as I can determine - I am STILL not a cowboy.
