The dept ceiling exists so that our government has an idea of how much they can budget ,what they can spend or otherwise give away. Congress thank god has the ability to say enough is enough, the country can not default because there are laws that force the president to pay our depts first and then per projects second or third or never. Experts contend that the interest we are about to default on is actually less than 6 percent of the current budget so that leaves a whole bunch a dollars free for what actually matters, such as farm subsidies etc.. It seems that you are caught up in the lamestream medias talking points and I doubt you have ever say through any broadcast from Fox network. The Huffpost is ok for a source but they are just leaning way in the opposite direction. This is free so each just like your supertegilent name calling.

Mr 1954, I believe we are at the point when the big boys are going to tell everyone what to do. Rather that you and I exchange blame. The bankers and wall street have started to voice on the issue and they are tagging the Republicans and Teaparty. Started to talk of reducing the countrys dept rating. Which will raise interest rates for all of us, as well as prices. For me, if all the damn interest I pay increases I will flat out be sucking wind..The latest news is that congress nearly had a deal to end this and the TP k**led it only hours ago.. The nation and the money people blame the Reps and Teaparty.. you should want to fix that..

The tea party has no control over the government, all they have is a voice. Obama has done more damage than anybody over his scare tactics on the debt ceiling dilemma. The dept ceiling has to be raised every year due to excessive spending then excessive borrowing. The dept will be paid by law, Obama knows his many other pet projects won't get funded. It s all a game. Our congress has proposed a budget almost daily that has been shot down by Obama and Reid, they closed government! They closed memorials? They are i***ts and anybody who has any memory left will remember even Clinton didn't play like that, he faced the same issues, almost exactly the same circumstances. He was successful at negotiating, this is why Obama will be the Dems demise, he thinks he is king.

That this shutdown was a Republican move is abundantly obvious. Clearly seen. It is utterly crazy to think otherwise. A letter sent around to be signed to back a government shutdowm. Cruz calling the house, against two centuries of protocol and precedent, convincing members to go along with a shutdown. Rallies by the Tea Party encouraging a shutdown. That this i***tic and rash action will undoubtably favor the Democrats and Obama, does not make it an Obama idea.

What? Clearly you don't understand the function of the house of representatives. It is solely their job according to the Constitution, to fund or not fund portions of the budget.
They funded everything except Obamacare. Now it's up to the president to except the approved funding or not. Obama decided to NOT except that funding & shut down the Government & falsely blame the Republicans for it.

As you said, the house refused to fund the ACA. This is a law that is a done deal any way you choose to look at it. We have paths to make changes and amend parts we do not like or do not work. They follow the Constitution, which clearly is selectively loved by the right wing. These methods could be worked on now if the 18 people of teaparty circus were not putting a wedge into the tiny bit of cooperation between our two parties..If this goes to default we will all end up paying in real dollars..
