10th chapter Matthew
Verse 1

This is how the Holy Spirit spreads. The disciples did not have full understanding at this time nor did they have the complete Holy Spirit. They had power before Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, or Thomas doubted Him. Jesus had not yet went to sit at the right hand of God so the Holy Spirit wasn’t here yet.

Verse 2 through 4

There is agreement on the names of eleven disciples. However Matthew and Mark list Lebaeus while Luke list Judas the brother of James. John names a Judas but points out that his last name is not Iscariot. What the Holy Spirit is saying the disciples names don’t matter. We should all be disciples who follow Christ in persecution and tribulation.

Verse 5 through 8

If you try to teach God’s word to minds deceived by satan you will not be well received. God’s word will be accepted by God’s children. Teach whoever will listen.

Verse 9 through 14

When you are working for God, you don’t have to worry about finances. We shouldn’t overly concern ourselves with cares of this world anyway. Everyone who sincerely wants to teach God’s word will find opposition. All who live Godly in Christ shall endure persecution. Satan deceives the whole world and if their minds already think they are correct, you will not change it. The hardest person to teach is one who thinks he knows it already.

Verse 15

Sodom and Gomorrah have already been punished.

Verse 16

The way a sheep thinks and a wolf is different. Wolves eat sheep. That being said that’s just what they think. God is on our side and we win.

Verse 17 and 18

Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see. This world has lost its mind. If you endeavor to teach God’s word and you are straight, a case will be made of the fact that you like women. I don’t find men desirable.

Verse 19 and 20

These instructions must be important because they are in three gospels; Mathew 10:19 and 20, Mark 13:11, and Luke 14. We shouldn’t plan our words. The more times you find an idea in the bible, the more important it is for you to understand.

Verse 21

This is expanded on in verse 34 and 35. This scripture is also found in Mark 13:12 and Luke 21:16 as well in Micah; 7:6, which was written about 700 years before Jesus was born. No man could have planned this. God doesn’t die. A day with God is a thousand years to a human. In one day with God, over 10 generations of us are born, grow up, have kids of our own, grow old and die. There should bigger concerns than your emotional state.

Verse 22 through 25

This is another important idea that is repeated in several gospels. If satan has deceived a person’s mind and you bring to truth from God’s word, they cannot believe you because their minds have already been made up. You will not have favor from God and man. If they don’t accept your message just go somewhere else. Everyone has to make up their own minds. Verse 25 is the reason Jesus didn’t say anything in 9:24. The next time this is said Jesus will ask a question that won’t be answered. But think about that; Jesus was accused of working through the power of satan. A disciple not being above his master is another idea that is three gospels. The three gospels are Matthew 10:24, Luke 7:40, and John 15:20. A repeated message deserves more consideration than one said one time.

Verse 26

There will be no secrets. It is best not to blow a trumpet every time you do a good deed or stress the importance of the role you play in someone else’s life. Anyone who doesn’t recognize reality will suffer because of it. Everything comes to light eventually but there is power in clean hands.

Verse 27

Jesus taught the multitude using parables. He explained everything to the disciples. It was up to the disciples to explain everything.

Verse 28

God’s message will not be received cheerfully. There are people who think God is pleased with them who haven’t even read the bible. We have a tendency to minimize the maximum and maximize the minimum. We think we are important when we hit someone, that a person will be traumatized for life if they receive a beating. We believe killing someone is the end of their life. Jesus says to turn the other cheek and we don’t really die, we transfer to another plane of existence. The bible says if you don’t beat your children you don’t love them in Proverbs 13:24. We don’t seem to realize that we all come into this world as infants, grow up, have children of our own, grow old, and die. All of us go through the same thing. The best way to get a child to obey you is to bring the pain. The reality of the situation is that parents love their children and don’t want to hurt them. That being said, a child doesn’t think about its future, safety, or welfare. They do whatever makes them feel good and love sweets. If you refuse to allow corporal punishment into the equation you do the child no favors. We all grow up but the conclusions you come to as a child will be different than the ones you reach as an adult.

Verse 29 through 31

This is a poor translation. What the scripture is saying is that God sees humans as more important than birds. None of has counted the hairs on our head. God knows us better that we know ourselves.

Verse 32

If you are willing to stand up for God’s word in these insane times where it is obvious that satan has deceived the entire world, when God returns you will get your reward.

Verse 33

If you want to join those deceived by satan then when God returns He will deny you also. God is just and fair, He allows everyone to make up their own mind and make their own choices

Verse 34 through 36

Preachers make sermons from Isaiah 26:3 without analyzing the entire chapter. Furthermore they lift one scripture out of context and want you to believe something God never meant. Let me ask a question. Can anyone give me a biblical example of someone whose mind was in perfect peace? If you read Ezekiel 20:25 the message seems to say that God put some scriptures in the bible to cause someone to stumble. If you read and try to understand the whole bible then you won’t get tripped up by someone who hasn’t studied. Why do these series of scriptures agree with Luke 12:49-53 and Micah 7:6? An aside note, Jesus says in Matthew 5:44 and again in Luke 6:27 to love your enemies.

Verse 37 and 38

Also read Luke 14:26 and 27. Christ must come first, then our spouses, our children. When a person has reached adulthood they don’t need parents anymore. No one should think they have any authority in a house you are paying for. A person should leave their father and mother and start a new relationship and make a new family, as it says in Genesis 2:24. No one should want childhood to last forever. It takes less than 20 years to grow up physically but it may take another 40 years to learn how to make the right choices.

Verse 39

In Mark 8:35 and Luke 17:33 the verses are similar. This idea that we consider ourselves saved and others lost is wrong. We are all God’s children and He doesn’t esteem anyone as being better than anyone else. A sign of the Holy Spirit is not having a seizure, or mouthing gibberish. Reading John 14:26 we can see that the Holy Spirit is a teacher whose job it is to help you understand the written word

Verse 40

Similar verses are found in Mark 9:37, Luke 9:48 and 10:16, and John 13:20. Don’t take it personal when you are treated poorly. They really aren’t mad at you. Later, they will have a much larger problem to deal with.

Verse 41 and 42

These scriptures are only here. (I couldn’t find them anywhere else). The rewards are God’s hands and He gives them to whomever He chooses. God is in control and we are not.

The Messiah will be called "the Prince of Peace". Isaiah 9:6. Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I come not to send peace, but a sword". Matthew 10:34. Jesus planned his own death. He said, "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me". Matthew 10:38. Jesus wanted to be crucified because he thought it would fulfill prophecy. It fulfilled nothing. Jesus committed suicide and died "the deaths of the uncircumcised". Ezekiel 28:10.

You are insane. You are wasting your time trying to make people doubt Christ. How many people even like you? Jesus saves and heals.

Fred, I don't agree with Susan at all, but she has just as much right to start her religion as Arnold Murray had to start his. Susan has never been rude, called anyone a name, nor has she attempted to bully or intimidate anyone. Men and women have sacrificed much to grant us that freedom along with many more. BTW how many people even like you? Doesn't that sound like something a child would spout?

10th chapter Matthew br Verse 1 br br This is how... (show quote)

No where in the bible does it say or insinuate to beat your child!!!!! Spare the rod does not mean 'to beat'. The words chasten or to deciplin does not mean to beat!!! That is against God's law as well as man's law. Did you beat your children? I have said over and over that all have the right to believe as they chose , but no one has the right to beat any child, much less their own children. I sincerely hope and pray that you do not have access to any children! Only a sick perverted man would claim that Jesus would suggest this.

Love the sinner hate the sin, never the less, other people are reading and some will be led astray. Susan is led astray by her flavor of her religion which is not biblical. I among others have chastised her on view of Gods Word. After a few replies, people advise her in their own way "to take a hike". Sometimes a proverbial 2x4 is needed for people to fully realize that they are on the wrong path.

We are to discipline our children, and not physically beat them. "Beating with the rod" is a metaphor for verbal admonishment. Proverbs 23:14. Child abuse is one of the seven deadly sins. Children want to please their parents and the purpose of the discipline is to correct their behavior. It is more effective to verbally instead of physically bash them.

Yes sir I agree, love the sinner hate the sin. If anyone is in danger of being led astray by reading any one persons post, they are probably already 'astray'. The bible teaches us to NOT trust any one person' s interpretation of HIS word. We are each to read and study the bible ourself and with the help of the Holy Spirit interpret it. I agree with the 2x4! Anyone who advocates the beating of children or to "bring the pain to get a child to obey you" needs to experience a tremendous amount of pain!!!!!! Mr. Murray did not teach that. He taught exactly what the bible said - do not spare the rod and to discipline them. There is such a huge difference between beating and spanking! We spake when we are in complete control of our anger or frustration. I also find it strange at his comment " We think------that a person will be traumatized for life if they receive a beating." He seems to be OK with crualty in order to inforce his "way". This is respectfully my opinion.

As for myself I agree with not sparing the rod is spoiling the child, Proverbs 13:24; but this is for the wayward child, you have to explain to that child why you are going to spank the bottom of that child, but not a beating.

Well you answered part of my question when I was composing. People that have been abused very often become the abuser as an adult. Fred your life seems to be interpreting the bible. Now I understand.

I see that you have carried pain for a long time from your childhood, just like Susan. I am sorry for both of you. I will pray for both for the LORD to heal your wounds. You need to find someone to talk to, maybe a friend or a family member. God Bless. Fred if your children continue the abuse cycle, please stop it before a child is physically harmed.
