Chapter 2

Verse 1

Everyone thinks that this is so holy. I think satan is trying to kill Jesus while He is a small child. In Revelation 12:4 a great red dragon who we know to be satan wants to devour the Christ-child as soon as He is born. II Corinthians 11:14 says satan is transformed into an angel of light. We should be careful that we are worshipping God truly and not following traditions of men.

Verse 2

What is translated “star” was a moving light in the sky. It was not a star like the big dipper. The light took the wise men from their location to Bethlehem and then disappeared. Once they had informed Herod that the Christ child was born the light in the sky reappeared and led them to where He was located. The wise men had no idea that Herod really wants to kill Jesus.

Verse 3

Herod thought that he ruled Judea. All his kiss-ups were troubled also.



Verse 4

Herod wants to find out what God’s word says, not for good but to keep it from happening.

Verse 5 and 6

This scripture is found in Micah 5:2

Verse 7

Herod is really anxious about securing his kingship. He asks the wise men when the star appeared to lead them so that he can get an idea of how old Christ is.

Verse 8

Herod doesn’t tell the wise men of his intent to kill the child. He makes them believe he wants to worship also.

Verse 9 and 10

Now the Herod knows of Christ, the light reappears and leads the wise men to Christ. Their jubilation is totally innocent.



Verse 11

The text doesn’t say the number of the wise men, only the diversity of the gifts they brought. More than one person could have brought gold, frankincense, or myrrh.

Verse 12 and 13

All God had to do to stop satan’s plan was tell the wise men to avoid Herod. Herod will be upset but he is only ruler of a region limited in scope. Herod never had any jurisdiction in Egypt. When Herod kills all the children in Bethlehem Jesus will not be in the country. Jesus was out of the country before Herod figured out he would never see the wise men again.

Verse 14

This is found in Hosea 11:1

Verse 15
The wise men did not make fun of Herod; they simply did what they were told. Herod is extremely upset to the point that he murders every small child in the city.

Verse 17 and 18

This is found in Jeremiah 31:15. The wise men are not predicted to worship Christ in the old testament. The slaughter of children is mentioned. Herod only hurt the people he ruled over. If you really think about it most of us only cause hurt and pain to whoever is close to us. In Revelation the end-time locust are said to have the power of scorpions. A scorpion has no wings. It can only hurt you if it gets near you. If you avoid them, they can’t hurt you.
Verse 19 and 20

None of us lives forever and if all you are is a nuisance then no one will miss you. When you die, your life is over.

Verse 21 and 22

Archelaus is Herod’s son. There may be a chance that Herod talked about killing Jesus. It’s not a good idea to take stupid chances. Nazareth is outside of Herod’s or Archelaus jurisdiction.

Verse 23

This is found in Judges 13:5 and it is talking about Samson. There may be some parallels between the life of Samson and the life of Christ.

Christianity combines three separate messianic prophecies. The three wise men, the visiting kings, and the kings bearing gifts. There was a huge six-pointed star in the eastern sky on January 6, 1984. R. Reagan and Z. Zyoung of China were at a summit in Williamsburg at the time. They were close by and visited the Messiah, but he chased them away. The Messiah was in the newspaper shortly before this where he was publically humiliated. There were three wise men and there are three stages of wisdom. First you're friendly, then you reason, and if that doesn't work you shut up. Kings would bring presents to the Messiah because of his Temple at Jerusalem. Psalm 68:29.

To explain all of this in detail, Fred, I would have to write a book. Those are just a few of the prophecies that have already been fulfilled in the Messiah's life. The next thing to happen will be VWD Day and it could happen at any time. It is the first "Day of the Lord" and stands for Vengeance, Wrath, and Destruction. God will take Judgment on the legal system where he lives for widespread corruption and a conspiracy to obstruct justice. All of the Messiah's enemies will be set on fire. Psalm 37:20, Psalm 97:3, Psalm 141:6, Isaiah 10:1-4.

Do you think you know who is the enemy of God?

The enemies of God are those who hate him or have sinned against him. Sinning against God's person is the deadliest sin you can commit. Proverbs 8:36. "But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death".

How do we sin against Him?

Any sin that man can commit against another man can also be done against God. God has come to earth in human form and he has experienced life as we know it. As far as sins against him, the only thing God will forgive is simple theft, as long as you make restitution.

Man can kill man, can man kill God?

When it is time for the Messiah to die, man will kill God. His body will be made a lamb for a sin offering. Isaiah 53:10. "...when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin..." Daniel 7:11. "...I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame". God has divine protection until it's time for him to die.

The Messiah hasn't come yet and when they kill him, they will burn his body on the altar. This will be done by Christians in an attempt to prevent the resurrection. But the resurrection will be spiritual and not physical. Zechariah 14:5. "...and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee".

Such an action to kill all the first born children would definitely been recorded at that time: they were under Rome, which kept very good records. No archeological records thus far support such an attempt. Blind faith in the inerrancy of the Bible will insist these verses are factual. But even if they are not, nothing is lost. Many cannot see or understand that point.
