e-first/ I think this is fantastic. without plumbers, carpenters, electricians, truck drivers, janitors, garbage collectors, etc. America would grind to a halt. I think there is a lot of snobbery (no I'm not sure thats even a word) amoung "educated" people against the ones who get dirty. How is a person with a PHD that hangs on the wall and gets dusted any better than the one who's PHD leans against the wall in the barn and digs holes? You go Mike Rowe!

Being not college educated I have seen what I would call mistreatment of janitors and trash collectors. At work the janitors were treated like trash but one Saturday when they needed trash picked up there was no crew so they had to call us (maintenance) well they tried the same crap so we just left for a couple hours but before then their machine needed to reset so we went and picked up the trash instead, come Monday we were asked by their team leader why they had to wait so long, our answer was there was trash everywhere so we had to clean up the area before we could work on anything. Needless to say the ladies did not get their production that night, never happen again.

But what really gets me is these so-called educated ones have no idea how to snake a drain or wire a three way switch and most have no common sense.

We just finished fixing up a house and if it weren't for trademens we would have never finished. I took what they call gut couses but them I switched to electrical-plumbing, master of neither but good enough for code work.

On the job training it at least 10 times better than book learning. Worked my way from grade 2 (entry level) to grade 7, refused grade 8 because that was considered right next to God. Took many new hires out, many were hired as 8's to train them, first thing was forget what you learned it doesn't apply and there are much quicker, easier ways to do this.

Companies waste tons of money by allowing a piecre of paper to trump practical experience. We have what I call google managers. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I googled it, and it can be done in x amount of time. They make me laugh.

Google it is a place to start, it's up to the user to dig.

The premire problem (we have created) is we held these educated i***ts far to high because they got and education. These educated i***ts have run us aground with their superior intellect and education. Common sense is ONLY attained by by hands on experience. Because I read a book on brain surgery does NOT make me a brain surgeon, likewise ANY profession be it economics or welding. Without hands on experience no person can be an expert. We have a government that their only experience is politics as a career, no life experience, no common sense and NO morals.
