Joel 1st chapter
Joel is addressing the 5th trumpet, seal, and vial. The fifth event is the locust army. People are going to change their mindsets and focus on feeling good right now. They will no longer concern themselves with their own futures. They will become parasites that are useless and irritating pains in the neck to anyone who has the misfortune of being in the same room with them.

Verse 1 and 2
Something occurs that is different from the way things used to be done. We used to be a patriarchal society with concern for the wellbeing of our children. Around the 1960’s society did a radical turnaround and sopped caring for the greater good and started becoming myopic. Suddenly everyone wants to be an entertainer.

Verse 3 and 4

From these verses this seems like it will last four generations. The baby boomer generation was the first. These are four stages of locust. In verse 2 the trouble goes on for four generations. Anyway, the end time events are likened to birth contractions. The word translated sorrows would have been better translated contractions. If you were near a woman when she birthed a child, the closer the child is to being born the less time between contractions. A locust is a useless parasite. In the Middle-East they form swarms of millions and eat everything at harvest time. They eat the crops, stems, and leaves.

Verse 5

You will not have the best of both worlds. If you fit in well as a child, you will probably be useless as an adult. You will spend more of your life as an adult than as a child. A happy childhood does not prepare you for adulthood. In fact, life is completely different when you become an adult. The clothes you wore as a child don’t fit when you grow up. This life cannot prepare you for the next life. As it is written, “eye has not seen neither ear heard what God has prepared for them that love Him”.

Verse 6

What may be looked at as foreigners may be us with a new mindset. Instead of preparing for our futures, we just involve ourselves in activities that feel good right now but are detrimental in the long run. In the Old King James instead of fangs the word is cheek teeth. In other words he is deceptive. He really is another parasite but he hides it.

Verse 7

The bark on a tree protects the inside of the tree. The outer protection will be removed. This may have already happened. In Arizona it is illegal for border guards to ask illegal immigrants for proof they are authorized to be in this country. Al Qaeda can now fly to South America and just walk in this country. The entire border between Arizona and Mexico has been opened. The word of God was meant to be our shield. A shield is useless if it is in your tent when you are on the battlefield and an enemy shoots an arrow in your direction. It will be too late if you wait until you are pregnant with a married man’s child to read Exodus 20:14.

Verse 8 and 9

Instead of celebrating in church we should be apologizing to God for doing nothing while the left has murdered over 53,000,000 children before they drew their first breath. We need to repent for allowing same sex marriage to become national law. How can you not be bothered when we criminalize normal relations and legalize gay marriage? How can it be okay for a man to have sex with a man, but wrong to have sex with a woman? If churches really understood God’s word, we wouldn’t be as bad off. We would be concerned with consequences.

Verse 10

If we had obeyed God things would be so much better. We would be families instead of baby mommas and baby daddies. The painful truth is it takes a man to raise a man to be a man. Women have never been men will never be men and really don’t understand the things men go through, the same thing with fathers and daughters. State by state we are setting this country on a path to destruction. We will reap what we have sown; nothing good can come from devaluing human life.

Verse 11 – 14

What a true pastor should do is stand up against the left and face the cold stares. A man of God should not be concerned with popularity. Martin Luther King was a man of God. He was willing to face hateful people straight on and take unpopular stands. He followed his conscience. We need leaders and not those that teach itching ears. Success will require hard work, education, and a little luck. However luck is the place where preparation meets opportunity so the more skills you acquire the luckier you will be.

Verse 15 – 18

A day with the Lord is a thousand years to man. Things could be much better. Gangs who poison society with drugs, prostitution are destroying his nation. We are going from bad to worse. If we policed ourselves we wouldn’t need police.

Verse 19 and 20

God is our only hope. Obedience to God’s word would fix the problems we have. I think this generation is hopeless but I can’t do anything but try. Fortunately salvation is not based on success.
