Here is how I HONOR my parents:

1. I don't need their financial assistance
2. I pay SSA payments, so that they can get a check from me.
3. I have been employed for 35 years, and never borrowed any money from them.
4. I served in the US Navy for about 10 years, and resigned honorably from my active duty commitment and reserve commitment (my choice)
5. I've never been arrested.
6. I've given them 3 grandchildren and daughter in law that appreciates them.
7. I go to a job that for the grace of God, I really enjoy to honor my commitment to my family and my community.

...so explain to me, why we insist on calling a foot soldier, standing in the snow: honorable? I call it a waste of my tax dollars and waste of this poor soldier's time....is that the best we can do with my money? How disingenuous. When I swore in, and they told me that if we can't find you after the enemy that we provoked, k**ls you; we're going to have a 24/7 honor guard to recognize my sacrifice...I would have walked out the door. Here's how you honor a soldier: You give him the tools and training to never have to worry about such a hypocritical response to my family's loss.
