I really don't understand political issues. This Government shutdown is very confusing to me. Why is Boehner holding the Government hostage (that if that is what he is doing)? Why is the President refusing to talk? Could someone give me a little info without getting to deep so that I don't understand it. Each site I go to on the internet has a different view. Thank you

It can be confusing and the networks are no help. Hoping for a little help here but here goes. Democrats want ObamaCare no matter what and republicans don't. Republicans have offered several bills, the first bill was stupid as it took ObamaCare out and that was never happening. One bill was give everyone one a year waiting period like big business got but the democrats said no. The House has passed a series of bills (15?) and the democrats approved two or three so in a nut shell that's where they are now.

where ever an entity that is run by the law of economics, that means that the entity(in this case...fed. gov.) must bring in more than it spends. if that is not possible, then borrow with the ways and means to pay back. we now live in the internet age that has severely pampered many in the younger sect to the point that working with your hands is looked at as 'beneath them.' people think that they are entitled to most commodities. they are...but they need to work for it. jobs are scarce (whole `nuther chapter) and our child-prez seems to like it that way as to contineau his 'collective' theory that people need the gov. to spoon-feed them because of the sad state of economics of this country. this becomes stupid expensive as we all know...china now owns us thanks to this child in the office. this country can recover through the private sector but will take less government and more internal manufactoring (s**tcanning NAFTA and other job k*****g bills that passed in DC...for wh**ever reason) to put the classified ads in the newspaper back to an inch thick like they were back in the 80's. less gov.=economic leyway.

Thank you for your reply. I am 65 yrs young. Back in the day we worked together to make things work. Now that seems to be not the way things are done. It is a sad time for everyone

OBAMA wants full blast spending to keep entitlement boat afloat so the Democrats can keep the FREE OBAMA MONEY flowing and get v**ers to v**e for Democrats in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Boehner wants the $$$ Obama free flow$$$to slow down and Obama spending not geared toward what he wants and not what the country needs. Income right now is 17 Trillion and interest on loans is less than 1 Trillion so nobody is going to get hurt next week. Secretary of the Treasury LEW is a liar when he says Republicans are reckless and irresponsible while Obama is the reckless spender and irresponsible.

What do you mean it does not smell right. I didn't know you could smell through the internet. I asked a simple question. At this point I don't feel this forum is for me. There are a lot of angry people out there. All they do is trash everyone. I am not a Democrat nor a Republican. I am just a senior citizen trying to get by in this messed up world.

slatten49, I have a 34 year old across the street from me andshe's in the same boat, doesn't understand how Obama gets away with lies. She's married with two children and she can't understand who their health insurance doubled after being told by the great one that it would fall. They lose the doctors for the kids. They are very unpolitical and I suspect there are a great many that aren't.
