DeeDee-the problem is that the ACA is too far reaching and the only way it can survive as written is for everyone who will be paying the full premium ,without subsidies, will have to sign up. So far, those are few and far between and for those who have tried the experience was not good. The policy structure is such that the buyer has to pay for services he will never use and it is driving the cost way up. The government, with insurance company help, designed a one size fits all type of policy-every body who buys the gold plan has exactly the same coverages , and the same applies to the silver plan. Citizens should be free to choose what coverages they want at the price they can negotiate. With the ACA, you pay the price dictated or you pay the fine . It is nothing more than a power grab by the government. One of the principal ways in which a country becomes socialist is by having the government control the health care. The fact that at least 58% of Americans do not want the ACA should not be ignored. Dr. Ben Carson has it right when he says that the ACA is worst than s***ery. Good Luck America !!!

Ricko,
I agree with some of your statement, I don't like all of ACA either. My point has been and continues to be...you don't Shutdown Our Government because you don't like ACA. It is the "Law of the Land", even the Speaker knows that, eh? ACA Can and Will be amended. Granted, the USA must develop a system of Health Care for All that doesn't bankrupt them but it can't continue the Emergency Room for a tummy ache either, eh?. Everyone buys insurance that "they never have to use"...for their homes, cars, etc but it is wise to have Insurance for When you Need it. Rasmussen Poll (5 days ago) shows 48 % Favorable and 49% Unfavorable for ACA. I don't know how this Washington Two Step they are doing will end, I truly hope sensible minds will prevail...and I for One will keep my eye on ACA and the amendments that will be forthcoming. I believe the quote was from Fox News Dr. Ben Carlson was "Obama care is the worse thing since s***ery", obviously politics isn't his first love, eh?... it isn't over Ricko, stay tuned.

Dr. Carson isn't the only physician with concerns over ACA. Howard Dean wrote an OP-ED in the Wall Street Journal last month stating his concerns as well.

When Obama starts respecting the LAW of the LAND ( immigration) I will listen to that argument.

Oh sure they amended SS but then they figure out a better of figuring out what % is might go up do to inflation and the retired have feel behind every year since and so years it didn't go up a penny.

You make a valid point...my plea is to Amend ACA with proper Government procedures as it was done for Medicare.

It seems you should understand Medicare implementation and funding before you go too far in your comparisons.
Medicare is/has been funded by a specific tax deducted from all workers paycheck. It has been in effect so long that people benefiting from it now paid the "premiums" (paycheck deductions) all their lives, then, when they passed a certain age, the government administered "insurance" started paying (partially) for the medical care costs. All persons involved were treated equally, (except the "premiums" were higher for the persons with higher wages.)
At the time Medicare was implemented, it was a viable, "pay for itself" system as there was about 1 retiree for 7 persons paying into the system. (Today, the ratio is closer to 1 retiree for every 3 persons paying into the system), It is no longer a self sustaining system; changes need to be made which our political "leaders" are ignoring because it might hurt their political careers.
The ACA is more of a very poor and unfair "wealth re-distribution" system than it is a viable health insurance system. (Not a health CARE system but a health insurance system where the government has complete control of all aspects of all citizen's health care).
It also is unaffordable and has a very detrimental effect on jobs and job creation which at this time should be this administrations primary focus.

You admit you don't like Obama care, so what's the big deal shutting the government down because republicans want EVERYONE to have the program extended for a year, not just big business, and why not make government employees, including Obama, have Obama care. If it's such a great program, then why can't you agree to this? Obama is the hold up on these 2 issues. The rest can be sorted out, but Obama has stated several times he won't budge. You tell your idol, Obama, that HE shouldn't shut the government down.
