Explaining Socialism to a Republican

Let's start with trying to define socialism and Democracy
Democracy is a form of Govt. in which (ALL) citizens take part. It is govt. (OF) the people, and ( FOR) the people
Socialism is where we (ALL) put our resources together and work for the common of us all and not just for our own benefit in the sense we are sharing the wealth within society.
Now let's look at a few forms of democratic socialism and yes these are just a few.
Democratic socialism is a form of sharing the wealth which means by pooling our tax dollars together to design programs that benefit (ALL) citizens of this country, city, State, etc.
Fire and police departments are examples of democratic socialism. So does the GOP want individuals responsible for protecting their own homes from fire, or protecting life through our police departments. So pooling our tax dollars to maintain a fire department and police department that operates as non profit. It would be absurd to think that using GOP policy that some corporations profiting from putting out fires or protecting our streets.
Public Schools another social program. It benefits us (ALL) of us to have a taxpayers to support. But in this country it is unfortunate public education ends with HS. Most countries provide low cost or free college education. Because what the GOP will never understand that an educated society is a safer society, more productive, and more prosperous society. But they continue to push for profit schools where the focus is on profit not education.
The GOP constant complaining of the poor inner city children as takers and criminals well how about educating these children and make sure they have a meal. But inner city violence is a positive source for the GOP to advance there agenda and have no solutions except to repeal any social program and blame these people for the deficit. What an out of touch statement. This agenda makes this problem worse.
When middle class and poor graduate they hold large debt in the form of large loans that takes 20 years to pay. But the GOP solutions is to raise the interest rates and decrease corporate taxes.
American style of capitalistic program for college: you pay $20,000 annually which totals $80,000 plus interest so your education could cost in excess of $100,000 and years to pay back. But this is the GOP agenda for an educated society but only for the wealthy. What happen to the term all the citizens.
So let's look at an example of social programs for college. College classes paid from our taxes, when you graduate from college and begin your career as an educated person you start paying taxes for fellow citizens to attend college.
So when you hear the word socialism and spreading the wealth you need to understand that this is a serious misconception fabricated by the GOP.
Democratic socialism does not mean taking from the rich and giving to the poor. It works to benefit (EVERYONE) so the rich can no longer take advantage of the poor and middle class. A more educated society benefits all
GOP forms of socialism: Federakized credit, Nationalized the banks and this will really hit the extremist of OPP the right actually grew this government to its biggest size ever.
Stimulus checks by Bush (SOCIALISM) supported by the GOP.
GOP wants to nationalize the American system (Socialism at its best)
Can anybody tell me that the Patriot Act is not socialism I look at it as c*******m. So someone has to tell me when socialistic ideas become bad to the republicans. Obama Enforces laws in the Patriot act and when he does you critize him for enforcing laws created by the GOP. How insane are you people.
VA republicans calling for privatization via a federal Vouchers. Wow if that's not socialism what is. The GOP wants to do the same with Medicare. (SOCIALISM)
Privatize SS send our tax dollars and t***sfer it to Wall Street without any regulations. (SOCIALISM)
The GOP support of the pentagon, and private stock corporations, all forms of socialism.
Private corporations are highly socialistic we have been warned thru the Bush agenda from 2000 to 2008 that besides the federal reserve, private stock corporations are the greatest danger to our democracy because they always seek to monopoly and destroy competition. But the GOP with constant deregulation but yet the GOP insured these corporation that we will bail them out with our tax dollars. TARP=SOCIALISM
Oil subsidies, farm subsidies, military aid, pentagon contracts, security contracts, the govt. is the only buyer for these services. But the GOP constantly define socialism as govt. aid to poor people and capitalism is defined as govt. aid to the rich. We need a balance
Let's say social democracy refers to support for political democracy along with regulating of the capitalistic economy. But the GOP constantly hides from there own socialistic agenda but believe in no regulations when our tax dollars are distributed to the wealthy and corporate elite. They constantly have avoided and blocked Obama from creating a corporate tax incentive program where by manufactors bring back there manufacturing products and create good paying jobs then these tax loopholes kick in. But the GOP wants lower tax rates. What the GOP has convinced these i***ts on OPP that corporations actually pay 34% taxes when the figure is actual tax paid is 12%. And there are corporations that pay zero taxes.
The republicans pushed for and signed into law the largest expansion of welfare programs in decades, Medicare expansion, that included prescriptive drug benefits with no regulation as to cost of drugs. (SOCIALISM)
The earned income Tax credit had been supported by many republicans and actually the expanded it. (SOCIALISM)
There are many examples of direct welfare that republicans favor, the unaccountable tax deductions designed to benefit the wealthy and corporate elite. But the GOP will lead you to believe that these are not handouts. But these i***ts on OPP I guess it seems, that allowing the corporate elite to keep his money through all these tax loopholes is not the same as giving them money.
I have only pointed out a few on both sides left and right. Trying to point out that there's good socialism and bad socialism. But when do we realize that socialist policies filter into a capitalist society is the only way to care for all people.

it dosent work and never will ,the reason being that to many people will not carry their share of the load.when productive people see others doing as well as them they will just stop and get on the "gravy train"
as for police and fire dept they are paid by local taxes
with a v**e of the people.schools are paid for by the people of the district not some evil central system.now you have the dept of education and it has just about destroyed the education system in this country.

It doesn't work for police, fire departments. Do you believe in corporate socialism when a corporations excepts tax subsidies, are you saying we should give our tax dollars to the wealthy and corporate elite with no regulation. I have no problem with corporate subsidies if there incentive based and these corporations are opening manufacturing and creating good paying jobs in this country and that's what they were intended for, but to just give it to them makes no sense.
