Practice with a cheaper model and then move up after you're able to fly without hitting trees, light poles, walls, etc., and sinking a drone in the middle of a lake. The unfortunate voice of experience. I love my new Phantom 3 Advanced and after a week flying over the waters around Ft. Walton Beach, FL. I'm high and dry. Knock on wood. As far as money, I've spent less on drones than I did on golf in a year and drones are a lot more fun. Especially if you enjoy photography.
