(The president and the Senate have been clear that they won't accept this kind of game-playing, and if these bills were to come to the president's desk he would veto them," said White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage. "These piecemeal efforts are not serious and they are no way to run a government.)

The House does not run the government, the president and senate do since they can block anything the House passes.

("Republicans in the House of Representatives refused to fund the government unless we defunded or dismantled the Affordable Care Act. They've shut down the government over an ideological crusade to deny affordable health insurance to millions of Americans. In other words they demanded ransom just for doing their job," Obama said.)

Again, the House does not have the power to fund or defund the government on their own.

("All of us here (are) sitting at a table waiting for the Senate Democrats to join us so we can begin to resolve our differences," House Republican Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said.

"The way to resolve our differences is to sit down and talk. And as you can see, there's no one here on the other side of the table," he said.)

I fail to see how the government shutdown is the fault of the republicans when even after Obamacare was implemented, the senate democrats still refuse to sit down and talk budget proposals with the house. For two days the house tried to go to conference for budget talks and the democrats simply did not show up.

the republicans, more specifically the tea part is to blame for this. Their mandate that the obama care be delayed for a year so they will fund the government for a few weeks smacks of ideology over America.

I presume you missed the part about no compromise - no negotiations - no disucssions? I hope so, otherwise you're response is pretty dumb

The Obamacare issue is done as of yesterday, it is irrelevant to this argument now. The house is trying to reach a budget proposal that will get the government back running again but the senate still refuses to sit down and talk. When one side refuses everything that is offered to them (meaning the democrats) because it is not 100% what they want, that is a refusal to compromise.

Spoken like a true politician ! Play the blame game , point fingers at others to take the heat off themselves.

...tell me something Dave...you do know that the democrats proposed a compromise on this and were rejected 18 times by republicans over the last year, right? I mean, even in the bubble world, you do know this, right? If you do NOT know this, you may want to reconsider the accusation of dumb, or perhaps focus it in a new direction

I'm 75, and during my years on this earth, Democrats have NEVER been known to compromise. What they call "compromise" is when the Republicans finally cave and let them have their way. That's the primary reason we are in the pickle we are in today. They are not about to compromise, now or ever.

Personally I oppose compromise - it takes 1-2 ideas that may be great and turns them into mediocre law. That said, if both sides sit down with the proper attitude and stick to their principles, good compromises can be found. But with Obamacare - who wants to compromise on socialism? Most of us want socialism GONE, not c*********d.

What compromise are you talking about? Where did you get such a thing. Tell us about what bill was passed in the Democratic Senate that was rejected by the House. There has been absolutely no give at all from Democrats on Obamacare from the day it was passed uni-partisan by them. The only compromise is the ones Obama chose to take unilaterally with no congressional activity. Hell, even when the House wanted to pass legislation authorizing his one year delay in the employer mandate he vowed to veto it. Right now, he and Reid refuse to even discuss a single thing regarding Obamacare - Obama reserves the right for him to unilaterally change and alter wh**ever he finds convenient while refusing to even discuss any aspect with the House, the "people's" house, the only legislative body where 100% of its members were put in office during the same e******n that granted him a second term.

You do know, I'm sure, that the law of the land is for Congress to have a budget - and the lack of that budget is the reason for the now need for a Continuing Resolution. Further, I'm sure you know that the part of Congress controlled by Republicans has passed several budgets in the last 5 years - and the part controlled by the Democrats has passed one - and refused to negotiate on how to merge that with any of the multiple passed by the other part.

wow...clearly you live in the fox/rush/hannity bubble and dont really seek real facts. No problem...let me educate you a bit:
1)Committee Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) has been rebuffed by GOP lawmakers 18 times over the past six months when seeking to convene the same kind of meeting.
2) the senate did pass a bill, and sent it back to the house, the house rejected it. there
3) the law of the land is obamacare, of course the dems are going to reject any legislation that destroys or undermines the law of the land.
4) your ability to rewrite history will fail on this issue....
