Works of the flesh

If you don’t use your higher intellect, you will make emotional decisions. It is always unwise to act on emotion and do the first thing that comes to mind. These scriptures are found in Galatians 5:19 - 21. When you first grow up, you want to have sex with anyone who is willing. The idea that you should be selective in choosing a lover is rather constricting. We don’t like being treated like children, even when we are children. But we need to ask ourselves some questions before we engage in any sexual activity. Questions like: Is either one of you married to someone else? Is there any chance of contracting a disease? What if pregnancy occurs? Some people are like holes. Easy to get involved with but hard to get rid of. If you have sex with the wrong person , the results can be disastrous. The boundaries of the Spirit of God are set by the word of God. In John 6:63 Jesus says, “the words I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life”. John puts spirit and word on the same level in 1 John 5:7. Paul in Ephesians 6:17 says the sword of the spirit is the word of God. We should use our higher intellects. We should control our emotions and not let our emotions control us. If we use our higher intellect, we won’t make so many emotional decisions.
Adultery - You should have only have sex in a committed relationship. If you are married you should not have sex with anyone else. God came to this planet and wrote with His finger in stone, “do not commit adultery”.
Fornication - Fornication is sex between unmarried people who do not know each other. 1 Corinthians 7:36 tells us we can have sex with our girlfriends if we plan to marry them later. There is no scripture that says a relation ship must be sanctified by man before God will recognize it. In fact, society condemns and scrutinizes normal relations and legalizes same sex marriage. Never the less, it is a bad idea to have sex with strangers.
Uncleanness - These people choose to be nasty. They will have sex with anyone of any gender and make feeling good their highest priority. We should choose to be clean and decent. We should not be alcoholics and drug addicts.
Lasciviousness - This word in the Greek denotes an absence of restraint or being in a state of indecency or wickedness. There should be a line that should not be crossed and limits to our behavior.
Idolatry - Those who worshiped idols were really worshiping devils according to 1 Corinthians 10:20. The first commandment forbids putting idols on the same level with God. Before you start thinking society has progressed to much to worship idols, take this fact into consideration: American Idol was number 1 in it’s timeslot every time it was on the air.
Witchcraft - This word is sometimes translated sorcery. It is from the Greek word pharmakeia from which we get the word pharmacy. This refers to people that use illegal drugs just to feel good. Those that sell and buy drugs are destroying this country. Those that sell them don’t care how junkies get their money. They give their drugs away to get you hooked. And later charge money after you are hooked. They can look at your face and tell they are destroying your life. They become addicted to the lifestyle. Those that use drugs are no better. They will rob their own mother to buy drugs to feel good. They will rob, steal, and kill, even perform sexually for strangers to get money to buy drugs.
Hatred - This is a work of the flesh and not a fruit of the spirit. When someone becomes angry for any reason this is flesh and not spirit. One of the fruits of the spirit is patience or temperance.
Variance - This refers to people that are argumentative. The funny thing is they may disagree with everything you say and do, but they need your money.
Emulations - In the Greek this word is akin to jealousy. This is people that want what you got. The problem is they want what you worked for but they don’t want to work themselves.
Wrath - These people exact revenge whenever they think they have been wronged. If you want to fight dirty, let God fight your battles. He can make you see what ain’t there, believe what ain’t true, not see what is there, and doubt what makes sense.
Strife - Some people are always mad about something. They have knee jerk reactions to supposed transgressions and look for reasons to steal, kill, and destroy. A Christian should not join a crowd set on destruction, for any reason.
Seditions - These people are never satisfied. They look for a reason to complain. They lead a crowd in injustice and never help anybody. They are troublemakers and rabble rousers. If you don’t mature spiritually, then you will be manipulated.
Heresies - This word in the Greek defines as people that believe the same idea. The number of people that believe in the validity of an idea makes no difference. The crowd can be wrong. The Catholic church tortured and killed many people for heresy. True Christians don’t kill for Jesus. They get killed for Jesus.
Envying - These people want what you got, but don’t want to do what you did. The United States is the envy of the world because of capitalism which is a fruit of Christianity. To show how satan has deceived the whole world, America is abandoning the principles that made us a strong nation to please the whims of a few perverts.
Murders - God came to this planet and wrote with His finger in stone, “do not murder”. Naturally satan is going to put questions in your mind where murder should be allowed. He has been doing the same thing for thousands of years and can’t help himself. Capital punishment is not murder and is permitted by scripture according to Genesis 9:6.
Drunkenness - While it is healthy to drink a little, public drunkenness can land you in jail. Most people judge by the sight of the eyes and the hearing of the ears, and if you are caught drunk, that is all they will talk about.
Revellings - These are people that are disorderly. They are sinners who are encouraged by the sin of others.
And such like - This list is by no means comprehensive. We should not make emotional decisions. If you do you will not go to heaven. The choices you make and the actions you participate in have an effect on your life.
