Jerusalem's Golden Gate is the Eastern Gate

The east gate in the wall surrounding Jerusalem has been shut since mid-evil times, When Jesus used that gate to go to the villages and the mount of Olives along to other areas. He entered in on Palm Sunday on the foal of an ass around 30 A.D. After the Messiah was crucified, the Roman destroyed the wall around 70 A.D. Battles and wars continued for control of Jerusalem, and was closed by the muslims in 810 A.D. but was reopened by the Crusaders in 1102. Saladin closed the gate after regaining control of Jerusalem in 1187. The Turkish Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificient rebuilt it together with the city walls and walled up the gate in 1541. A cemetery was put there by the muslims as it was believed that Elijah the precursor to the Anointed One, could not pass because He was a decendent of Aaron making Him a priest or Kohen and was not permitted to enter a cemetery and that would prevent the returning Messiah for entering Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. The Muslims consider the "Gate of Eternel Life", also known to them as the "Shushan Gate" their exclusive property. Isn't that interesting?
